Reich Richter Pärt
''Reich Richter Pärt'' was a duo of 2019 live immersive interdisciplinary performance pieces which combined paintings, new musical compositions, and film. The work in its original form was site specific as commissioned for and staged under the guidance of curators Hans Ulrich Obrist and Alex Poots at " The Shed in an architectural setting which is possessed with the ability to morph according to the work being exhibited and or performed therein. Hans Ulrich Obrist
Hans Ulrich Obrist (born 1968) is a Swiss art curator, critic, and historian of art. He is artistic director at the Serpentine Galleries, London. Obrist is the author of ''The Interview Project'', an extensive ongoing project of interviews. He is also co-editor of the ''Cahiers d'Art'' review. Life and work Obrist was born in Weinfelden, Switzerland on May 24, 1968. At the age 23, he organized an exhibition of contemporary art in his kitchen. Alexander Moinet Poots (born 1967), is the founding chief executive and artistic director of The Shed in New York City. He was formerly the founding chief executive and artistic director of the Manchester International Festival (2005-2015) and the artistic director of Park Avenue Armory (2012-2015). Early life and education Alexander Moinet Poots was born in Edinburgh in 1967, to a French mother and an Irish father, and studied the trumpet from a young age. The Shed (Hudson Yards)
The Shed (formerly known as Culture Shed and Hudson Yards Cultural Shed) is a cultural center in Hudson Yards, Manhattan, New York City. Opened on April 5, 2019, the Shed commissions, produces, and presents a wide range of activities in performing arts, visual arts, and pop culture. The Shed is located in the Bloomberg Building, adjacent to the northern leg of the High Line elevated park, near the Chelsea gallery district. It is attached to 15 Hudson Yards, a skyscraper within the Hudson Yards real estate development, although the Shed itself is located on city-owned land. Gerhard Richter
Gerhard Richter (; born 9 February 1932) is a German visual artist. Richter has produced abstract as well as photorealistic paintings, and also photographs and glass pieces. He is widely regarded as one of the most important contemporary German artists and several of his works have set record prices at auction. Personal life Childhood and education Richter was born in Hospital Dresden-Neustadt in Dresden, Saxony, and grew up in Reichenau (now Bogatynia, Poland), and in Waltersdorf (Zittauer Gebirge), in the Upper Lusatian countryside, where his father worked as a village teacher. Arvo Pärt (; born 11 September 1935) is an Estonian composer of contemporary classical music. Manchester International Festival
The Manchester International Festival is a biennial international arts festival, with a specific focus on original new work, held in the English city of Manchester and run by Factory International. The festival is a biennial event, first taking place in June–July 2007, and subsequently recurring in the summers of 2009, 2011, 2013, 2015, 2017, 2019 and 2021. MIF23 will take place in summer 2023. Steve Reich
Stephen Michael Reich ( ; born October 3, 1936) is an American composer known for his contribution to the development of minimal music in the mid to late 1960s. Reich's work is marked by its use of repetitive figures, slow harmonic rhythm, and canons. Reich describes this concept in his essay, "Music as a Gradual Process", by stating, "I am interested in perceptible processes. I want to be able to hear the process happening throughout the sounding music." To do so, his music employs the technique of phase shifting, in which a phrase is slightly altered over time, in a flow that is clearly perceptible to the listener. His innovations include using tape loops to create phasing patterns, as on the early compositions ''It's Gonna Rain'' (1965) and '' Come Out'' (1966), and the use of simple, audible processes, as on ''Pendulum Music'' (1968) and ''Four Organs'' (1970). Corinna Belz is a German documentary filmmaker. She is known for the films '' Gerhard Richter Painting'' (2011), '' Peter Handke: In the Woods, Might Be Late'' (2016) and '' Inside the Uffizi'' (2021). Life and career Corinna Belz studied philosophy, art history and media studies in Cologne and Berlin. After her first film about Gerhard Richter's Cologne Cathedral Window (2007), Belz made the feature length documentary '' Gerhard Richter Painting'' (2011).
