Regional 2 South East
Regional 2 South East, previously known as London 1 South, is an English level 6 rugby union regional league for rugby clubs in London and the south-east of England including sides from East Sussex, south Essex, south Greater London, Hampshire, Kent, Surrey and West Sussex. When this division began in 1987 it was known as London 2 South, changing to London 1 South ahead of the 2009–10 season. It was the feeder league for London & South East Premier into which the champion team each season is promoted. The second-placed team entered a play-off against the runner-up of London 1 North. Three teams were relegated into either London 2 South East and London 2 South West depending on their location. The current champions are Horsham and are promoted to Regional 1 South Central. Chichester RFC
Chichester Rugby Football Club is an English rugby union team based in Chichester, in West Sussex. The club runs three senior men's teams, a ladies team and a full range of mini and junior teams. The 1st XV play in Regional 2 South East (Level 6 of the English rugby union system). Old Colfeians
Old Colfeians Rugby Football Club is an English rugby union team based in Lee in south London, open to anyone interested in the game! The club runs three senior teams and a veterans side and a full range of junior and girls teams, each of which have their own name. The first XV plays in London 2 South East, having been relegated from London 1 South at the end of the 2017–18 season. History Old Colfeians was formed in 1928 but the club traces its routes back to 1885 when a club for the former pupils of Colfe's School got together to play rugby. For the next 60 years, Old Colfeians mostly played non-competitive matches against local rugby clubs. This ended when league rugby began in 1987 when the club was originally placed in London 3 South East and were promoted to London 2 South in 1989 and then, two years later were promoted to London 1 as champions. Medway is a unitary authority district and conurbation in Kent, South East England. It had a population of 278,016 in 2019. The unitary authority was formed in 1998 when Rochester-upon-Medway amalgamated with the Borough of Gillingham to form Medway Towns. Cobham Rugby Football Club (formerly Old Surbitonians Rugby Football Club) is an English rugby union club, located in the village of Cobham, Surrey, who play in the London Division of the RFU. Cobham RFC is based at the Old Surbitonians Memorial Ground in Cobham and is affiliated to the English RFU via the Surrey RFU. Beckenham Rugby Football Club is in Beckenham in South East London. The club was founded in 1894. The men's first XV currently compete in newly created Regional 2 South East - a league at the sixth tier of the English rugby union system - after gaining promotion as winners of the London 2 South East at the end of the 2021/22 season. The Ladies first XV currently compete in thWomen's Championship South 1- a league at the second tier of the Women's English rugby union system after winning their league and promotion in the 2021/22 season. Regional 1 South East
Regional 1 South East (up until 2022-23 known as London & South East Premier and up until 2016-17 known as National League 3 London & South East) is a level five league in the English rugby union system. It is one of six leagues at this level. When this division began in 1987 it was known as London Division 1. The format of the league was changed at the beginning of the 2009–10 season following re-organisation by the Rugby Football Union while the name change from National League 3 to Premier was introduced for the 2017–18 season to make it more obvious that it is a regional league. London & South East Premier is the highest regional rugby union league covering London and south east England. London 2 South West is an English level 7 Rugby Union League. When this division began in 1987 it was known as London 3 South West, changing to its current name ahead of the 2009–10 season. The division is made up of teams predominantly from south-west London, Surrey, and Hampshire. The 12 teams play home and away matches from September through to April. Each year all clubs in the division are also invited to take part in the RFU Intermediate Cup - a level 7 national competition. Promoted teams move up to London 1 South with league champions going up automatically and the runners up playing a playoff against the runners up from London 2 South East while demoted teams usually drop down to London 3 South West.
