Filipino singer Regine Velasquez has released seventeen studio albums, eight soundtrack albums, one live album, fifteen compilation albums, five extended plays (EPs), ninety singles (including nine as featured artist), and twenty-two promotional singles. In 1984, she won the television talent competition '' Ang Bagong Kampeon'' and was signed to a record deal with OctoArts International. She released her first single, "Love Me Again", in 1986, under the name Chona. After adopting the stage name Regine Velasquez, she signed with Viva Records in 1987 and released her debut studio album, ''Regine'', that spawned three singles—"Kung Maibabalik Ko Lang", "Urong Sulong", and "Isang Lahi". Regina Encarnacion Ansong Velasquez ( ; born April 22, 1970) is a Filipina singer, actress, and record producer. She is considered one of the most influential figures in Philippine popular culture and is known for her vocal range and belting technique. She had unorthodox voice training during her childhood, where she was immersed neck-deep in the sea. Velasquez rose to prominence after winning the television talent show ''Ang Bagong Kampeon'' in 1984 and the Asia Pacific Singing Contest in 1989. ''Retro'' is the eighth studio album of Filipino singer-actress Regine Velasquez, released in 1996 through PolyGram Records. The album contains new arrangements of songs from the 1970s and 1980s such as Andy Gibb's " I Can't Help It", a duet with Remus Choy of Grasshopper, Melissa Manchester's "Through the Eyes of Love" and Foreigner's "I Want to Know What Love Is". Velasquez also did an acoustic version of Orleans's "Dance With Me" as a duet with her mother, Teresita Velasquez. ''My Love Emotion'' is the seventh studio album of Filipino singer-actress Regine Velasquez, released in 1995 by Polycosmic Records in the Philippines, and distributed by Mercury Records. It was also released in other part of Asia like Hong Kong, Japan, China, Taiwan, Indonesia and Thailand under PolyGram Records. Southern Sonss frontman, Phil Buckle, saw Velasquez in one of her performances in Singapore and later offered to collaborate with her, writing the title track for the album. The album made a combined regional and domestic sales of 250,000 copies, although it did not achieve the commercial and critical heights of its predecessor '' Listen Without Prejudice'' (1994).
