Regine Tugade
Regine Tugade-Watson (born January 28, 1998) is a Guamanian sprint (running), sprinter. She competed in the 2015 World Championships in Athletics – Women's 100 metres, women's 100 metres event at the 2015 World Championships in Athletics in Beijing, China, as well as the girl's 200 m event at the 2015 World Youth Championships in Athletics, 2015 World Youth Championships in Cali, Colombia. She competed in the Athletics at the 2016 Summer Olympics – Women's 100 metres, women's 100 m preliminary round of the 2016 Summer Olympics. Tugade finished third place in her heat but did not progress further. She also competed in her second 2017 World Championships in Athletics – Women's 100 metres, World Championships in 2017, competing in the 200 m. She holds seven Guamanian national records in athletics. Dededo
Dededo ( ch, Dedidu; formerly in Spanish: , in Japanese: , ''Dededo'') is the most populated village in the United States territory of Guam. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, Dededo's population was just under 45,000 in 2020. The village is located on the coral plateau of Northern Guam. The greater Dededo-Machanao-Apotgan Urban Cluster had a population of 139,825 as of the 2010 census, making up 87.7% of Guam's population and 29.8% of its area. Etymology The origin of the village name Dededo, Dedidu in Chamorro, may come from the practice of measuring using fingers. The Spanish word for finger is dedo. It can be theorized that someone measured out the original village this way. Another possibility is that the word "dededo" is a version of the word "dedeggo," which means "heel of the foot," or that it comes from the word "deggo" which means to "walk on tiptoes." Guam At The 2015 World Championships In Athletics
Guam competed at the 2015 World Championships in Athletics in Beijing, China, from 22–30 August 2015. Guamanian national record holder Regine Tugade, a high school senior at the time, was the only athlete from Guam to compete, and her only event was the women's 100m. Knowing that she would be the only Guam athlete, as was the case when she competed in the 2015 World Youth Championships in Athletics weeks before, she said her goal was just to set a personal record. Not having suitable training partners to meet with, Tugade trained largely alone for the race, arriving to her track at 5:30 a.m. on weekdays to prepare before her classes started. The Chamorro people (; also CHamoru) are the indigenous people of the Mariana Islands, politically divided between the United States territory of Guam and the encompassing Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands in Micronesia. Today, significant Chamorro populations also exist in several U.S. states, including Hawaii, California, Washington, Texas, Tennessee, Oregon, and Nevada, all of which together are designated as Pacific Islander Americans according to the U.S. Census. 2015 Oceania Athletics Championships
The 2015 Oceania Athletics Championships were held at Barlow Park in Cairns, Australia, between May 8–10, 2015. The event was held jointly with the 2015 Oceania Youth Athletics Championships and the 2015 Oceania Combined Events Championships. Moreover, there were also exhibition events for masters and athletes with a disability (parasports), as well as school events for age groups 5 to 15 years. Detailed reports on a day by day basis were given. Initially, a total of 48 events were scheduled. However, results for women's pole vault could not be retrieved.
