Redesdale Junction
Redesdale Junction was a railway station and junction for the Redesdale line near Kyneton in Victoria, Australia. The junction employed a station master, porter, assistant gatekeeper and ganger. A post office operated from the junction until the station master position was abolished in 1930. The junction was an important centre for the small community. In 1918 the station master was given a lavish farewell and a marble clock when it was announced he was being transferred. Redesdale Railway Line
The Redesdale railway line was a branch railway line off the Melbourne–Murray River line in Australia. The line was conceived in the Railway Construction Act 1884, which was known as the Octopus Act for its profligacy. The line never paid. The line had seven stations, including its junction with Melbourne - Murray River Railway at Redesdale Junction. The other stations were Edgecombe, Green Hill, East Metcalfe, Emberton, Barfold and Redesdale Redesdale is a valley in western Northumberland, England. Bendigo Railway Line
The Deniliquin railway line (also known as the Echuca railway line) is a broad-gauge railway line serving northwestern Victoria, Australia. The line runs from the border settlement of Deniliquin into Bendigo, before turning south-southeast towards Melbourne, terminating in Docklands near the central business district. It is a major trunk line both for passenger and freight trains, with many railway lines branching off from it. Kyneton ( ) is a town in the Shire of Macedon Ranges, Macedon Ranges region of Victoria (Australia), Victoria, Australia. The Calder Highway, Calder Freeway bypasses Kyneton to the north and east. Kyneton is on Dja Dja Wurrung, Taungurung and Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung country. The town has four main streets: Mollison Street, Main street, Piper Street and High Street. Shrine Of Remembrance
The Shrine of Remembrance (commonly referred to as The Shrine) is a war memorial in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, located in Kings Domain on St Kilda Road. It was built to honour the men and women of Victoria who served in World War I, but now functions as a memorial to all Australians who have served in any war. It is a site of annual observances for Anzac Day (25 April) and Remembrance Day (11 November), and is one of the largest war memorials in Australia. Designed by architects Phillip Hudson and James Wardrop, both World War I veterans, the Shrine is in classical style, based on the Tomb of Mausolus at Halicarnassus and the Parthenon in Athens, Greece. The crowning element at the top of the ziggurat roof references the Choragic Monument of Lysicrates. Built from Tynong granite, the Shrine originally consisted only of the central sanctuary surrounded by the ambulatory.
