Red Konga
''Red Konga'' (in Spanish ''Konga Roja'') is a Mexican drama film directed by Alejandro Galindo. It was released in 1943 and starring María Antonieta Pons and Pedro Armendáriz. Plot The supervisor of a banana packing plant, is the target of a union opponents. While focusing on the defense of union members of his plant and maintain his life goals in his workplace, the supervisor is stolen by a gang of bad guys. His supposed best friend is one of the culprits. His life is further complicated by an affair with a singer in a port tavern. María Antonieta Pons
Maria Antonieta Pons (November 6, 1922 in Havana, Cuba – August 20, 2004 in Mexico City) was a Cuban-born Mexican film actress and dancer. She was the first actress in the ''Rumberas films'' in the 1940s and 1950s, in the Golden Age of Mexican cinema. Career María Antonieta Pons began her career as a dancer in Cuba in numerous theaters and night clubs. When she was 16, she met Spanish actor and film director Juan Orol, who became her partner in various dance competitions on the island. After becoming Orol's wife, he took her to Mexico so she could act in films. María Antonieta Pons debuted in the Cinema of Mexico in the film '' Siboney'' (1938). Pedro Gregorio Armendáriz Hastings (May 9, 1912 – June 18, 1963) was a Mexican film actor who made films in both Mexico and the United States. With Dolores del Río and María Félix, he was one of the best-known Latin American movie stars of the 1940s and 1950s. Early life Armendáriz was born in Mexico City, to Pedro Armendáriz García Conde ( Mexican) and Adela Hastings (American). He was also the cousin of actress Gloria Marín. Armendáriz and his younger brother Francisco lived with their uncle Henry Hastings Senior in Laredo, Texas, after their mother died. He later studied in California, attending the California Polytechnic State University from September 1928 to May 1932. Antonia del Carmen Peregrino Álvarez (2 November 1912 – 19 November 1982), known by her stage name Toña la Negra (Toña the Black Woman), was a Mexican singer and actress of partial Haitian ancestry, known for her interpretation of boleros and '' canciones'' written by Agustín Lara. Life and career Toña la Negra was born Antonia del Carmen Peregrino Álvarez on 2 November 1912 in La Huaca, a neighborhood of Veracruz, Veracruz.
