Reconnect (song)
"Reconnect" was the debut single of Irish art rock quartet, Director. It was released on 24 April 2006, eventually dominating the Irish airwaves throughout the summer and receiving much radio play from Irish radio stations such as RTÉ 2fm and Today FM. The single charted in Ireland at number ten, spending a total of twelve weeks in the Irish Singles Chart. National broadcaster, RTÉ, noted the song alongside third single " Leave It to Me" as one of the better tracks on the album, ''We Thrive on Big Cities''. In 2009, the '' Irish Independent'' referred to the song as "a debut single of exceptional potency", saying that its release had prompted excitement in "even those not normally given to hyperbole". Director (band)
Director were an Irish art rock quartet from Malahide in County Dublin. The group consisted of Michael Moloney (vocals/guitars), Eoin Aherne (guitars), Shea Lawlor (drums) and Rowan Averill (bass guitar). The band's 2006 debut album ''We Thrive On Big Cities'' was a critical and commercial success in Ireland. A follow-up album, ''I'll Wait For Sound'' was released in 2009. Career Style Director are known for their " art rock vision", having been educated in college; Moloney studied classical composition. They have been likened to Joy Division due to their "monochrome sound". They have also been praised for reproducing the "clipped, emotional blankness" of Wire. A Meteor Ireland Music Award was an accolade bestowed upon professionals in the music industry in Ireland and further afield. They had been bestowed each year since 2001, replacing the IRMA Ireland Music Awards held in the 1990s. The ''Sunday Tribune'' was an Irish Sunday broadsheet newspaper published by Tribune Newspapers plc. It was edited in its final years by Nóirín Hegarty, who changed both the tone and the physical format of the newspaper from broadsheet to tabloid. 2007 Meteor Awards
The 2007 Meteor Music Awards ceremony was held in the Point Theatre, Dublin on Thursday, 1 February 2007. It was the seventh edition of Ireland's national music awards and the last to be held at the Point before it shut for redevelopment. The event was presented by television personalities Podge and Rodge and comedian Deirdre O'Kane, who donned a showgirl outfit to open the awards ceremony.
