Recca
''Recca'' is a 1992 scrolling shooter video game developed by KID and published by Naxat Soft for the Family Computer. Controlling the titular space fighter craft, the player is sent to counterattack an invading alien armada while avoiding collision with their projectiles and other obstacles. The ship has a powerful bomb at its disposal that can be used as shield and clear the screen of enemies and bullets when fully charged. Known for pushing the Famicom hardware to the limits with its uncompromising high number of sprites and speed, ''Recca'' was created for a shooting game competition hosted by Naxat Soft called "Summer Carnival", which took place on July 17, 1992 and featured alongside the PC Engine CD-ROM² shooter ''Alzadick''. Flame Of Recca
is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Nobuyuki Anzai. It was serialized in Shogakukan's ''Weekly Shōnen Sunday'' from April 1995 to February 2002, with its chapters collected in 33 ''tankōbon'' volumes. The series was adapted into a 42-episode anime television series by Pierrot, broadcast on Fuji TV from July 1997 to July 1998. The series has also spawned two video games and other merchandise. Both the anime and manga were licensed for North American distribution in English by Viz Media. The anime has since been picked up by Discotek Media who re-released the series on DVD in 2015. Kaga Create Co., Ltd. was a Japan-based video game developing and publishing division of Kaga Electronics. The company initially released games for the PC Engine (known as the TurboGrafx-16 in North America). It later released titles for a wide array of gaming systems, including the Nintendo Entertainment System, Game Boy, Super NES, Dreamcast, 3DO, PlayStation, Sega Saturn, and PC-FX. Battle Garegga
is a vertically scrolling shoot'em up arcade game developed by Raizing and published by Eighting in 1996. It was later ported to the Sega Saturn in 1998, and an updated version, ''Battle Garegga Rev.2016'' was released in 2016. It was followed by a spiritual successor titled '' Battle Bakraid'' in 1999. Gameplay In addition to the player's main shot, picking up green Option power-ups will add up to four support pods to the craft. Ibara (video Game)
is a 2005 vertically scrolling shooter developed by Japanese developer Cave and published by Taito. It was ported to the PlayStation 2 in 2006. Gameplay Ibara is very similar to 8ing/Raizing's ''Battle Garegga'' and ''Battle Bakraid'' games. So much so that Ibara could be considered a pseudo-sequel or, at least, a spiritual successor. The similarities are numerous - some are subtle, some are easily spotted. These include combining archaic technology such as biplanes with more advanced machinery; firing and a power-up system; and a medal collecting system which drastically increases scoring. The game features a similar method of earning bombs and a delay when launching them as well.
