Diego Mateo López Zapata (August 1664 – July 1745) was a Spanish physician and philosopher who was denounced by the Spanish Inquisition and subsequently tortured for following and promoting Judaism in the 17th and 18th centuries. The Real Academia de la Historia (RAH, 'Royal Academy of History') is a Spanish institution in Madrid that studies history "ancient and modern, political, civil, ecclesiastical, military, scientific, of letters and arts, that is to say, the different branches of life, of civilisation, and of the culture of the Spanish people".
