Rayne High School
Rayne High School is located in Rayne, Louisiana, United States. The school is a part of the Acadia Parish School Board. Its mascot is the Mighty Wolves, and it has the largest enrollment of any school in the parish. The current high school building was opened in 1938 at a cost of $112,071.50 and initially enrolled grades 8–11. Designed by the architecture firm of Baron and Roberts, it was funded by the Public Works Administration. Previously, all grades had been taught at the current location of Central Rayne Kindergarten, first in a wooden building built in 1888, then in a brick building erected in 1912. Athletics Rayne High athletics competes in the Louisiana High School Athletic Association. Rayne is a city in the U.S. state of Louisiana, in Acadia Parish. With a population of 7,326 at the 2020 United States census, it is nicknamed the "Frog Capital of the World", as well as the "Louisiana City of Murals". Rayne is part of the Crowley micropolitan statistical area, and within the Lafayette metropolitan statistical area in Acadiana. The UNLV Runnin' Rebels are the men's basketball team that represent the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, in the Mountain West Conference of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA); it plays at the Thomas & Mack Center on campus. Joshua Blake Reed (born May 1, 1980) is a former professional American football player who was a wide receiver in the National Football League (NFL) for eight seasons during the 2000s. 2002 NCAA Division I Men's Basketball Tournament
The 2002 NCAA Division I men's basketball tournament involved 65 schools playing in single-elimination play to determine the national champion of men's NCAA Division I college basketball. It began on March 12, 2002, and ended with the championship game on April 1 in Atlanta at the Georgia Dome. A total of 64 games were played. This was the first year that the tournament used the so-called "pod" system, in which the eight first- and second-round sites are distributed around the four regionals. The 2001–02 Maryland Terrapins men's basketball team represented the University of Maryland in the 2001–2002 college basketball season as a member of the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC). In the sport of basketball, there are five players play per team, each assigned to positions. Historically, these players have been assigned, to positions defined by the role they play on the court, from a strategic point of view. The three main positions are guard, forward, and center, with the standard team featuring two guards, two forwards, and a center. Byron Mouton
Byron King Mouton (born April 29, 1978) is an American retired basketball player. He was a starter on the University of Maryland's 2002 national championship team and played professionally in several countries. College career Mouton, a 6'6" swingman from Rayne, Louisiana, originally committed to play basketball at the University of Kentucky, but opted out of his commitment after Wildcats coach Rick Pitino left to coach the Boston Celtics in 1997. Instead, he opted for Tulane. After two seasons at Tulane, Mouton transferred to Maryland to play for coach Gary Williams.
