Raymond Russell (golfer)
Raymond Russell (born 26 July 1972) is a Scottish professional golfer. Russell turned professional in 1993 and won a European Tour card at the 1995 qualifying school. His only European Tour win came in his 1996 rookie season at the Air France Cannes Open. 1996 and 1997 were his two best seasons, with 14th and 16th place seasons on the Order of Merit. He did not build on this early success, but stayed in the top 100 of the Order of Merit every season until 2004. In 2005 he finished 119 and lost full membership of the tour. His best finish in a major championship is tied fourth at the 1998 Open Championship at Royal Birkdale. Russell represented Great Britain & Ireland in the 1993 Walker Cup and Scotland in the Alfred Dunhill Cup (1996 and 1997) and the 1997 World Cup. The KPMG Trophy is a golf tournament on the Challenge Tour, played in Belgium. 2012 European Tour
The 2012 European Tour was the fourth edition of the Race to Dubai and the 41st season of golf tournaments since the European Tour officially began in 1972. The season comprised 45 tournaments counting for the Race to Dubai, including the four major championships and four World Golf Championships, and one team competition. The season began in January with the Africa Open in South Africa, culminating with the DP World Tour Championship, Dubai in November. The Race to Dubai was won by Northern Ireland's Rory McIlroy, who also collected the Golfer of the Year award having also headed the PGA Tour money list and ascended to the top of the Official World Golf Ranking during 2012. 1996 Dunhill Cup
The 1996 Dunhill Cup was the 12th Dunhill Cup. It was a team tournament featuring 16 countries, each represented by three players. The Cup was played 10–13 October at the Old Course at St Andrews in Scotland. The sponsor was the Alfred Dunhill company. The American team of Phil Mickelson, Mark O'Meara, and Steve Stricker beat the team from New Zealand of Frank Nobilo, Greg Turner, and Grant Waite in the final. It was the third win for the United States. Format The Cup was a match play event played over four days. The teams were divided into four four-team groups. The top eight teams were seeded with the remaining teams randomly placed in the groups. After three rounds of round-robin play, the top team in each group advanced to a single elimination playoff. Dunhill Cup
The Alfred Dunhill Cup was a team golf tournament which ran from 1985 to 2000, sponsored by Alfred Dunhill Ltd. It was for three-man teams of professional golfers, one team representing each country, and was promoted as the "World Team Championship". It was a "special approved event" on the European Tour, which means that it was supported by the Tour, but the prize money did not count towards the Tour's Order of Merit. The host course was the Old Course at St Andrews in Scotland. The stature of the members of the American team was variable as the Dunhill Cup clashed with a PGA Tour event, though the fact that it was played at "The Home of Golf" helped to attract some star names. Walker Cup
The Walker Cup is a golf trophy contested in odd-numbered years by leading male amateur golfers in two teams: United States, and Great Britain and Ireland. The official name is the Walker Cup Match (not "Matches" as in Ryder Cup Matches). It is organised by The R&A and the United States Golf Association (USGA). In 1921 the Royal Liverpool Golf Club hosted an unofficial contest which was followed by official annual contests from 1922 through 1924. From 1925 they became biennial, held on even-number years. After World War II they switched to odd-numbered years. They are held alternately in the U.S., and Ireland or Britain. The 1993 European Amateur Team Championship took place 30 June – 4 July at Golf Club Mariánské Lázně, later renamed Royal Golf Club Mariánské Lázně, 6 kilometres from the Mariánské Lázně town (called Marienbad in German) in the Karlovy Vary Region of the Czech Republic. The European Amateur Team Championship is a European amateur team golf championship for men organised by the European Golf Association which was introduced in 1959. The championship was played in odd-numbered years from 1959 to 2007 and has been played annually since 2008 (with the exception of 2012). Format 1959–1965 Each team consisted of a minimum of six players, playing two rounds of stroke play, counting the four best scores for each team. The Jacques Léglise Trophy is an annual amateur boys' team golf competition between Great Britain & Ireland and the Continent of Europe. It was first played in 1977, as a one-day match before the Boys Amateur Championship, but since 1996 it has been played as a separate two-day match. The venue generally alternates between Great Britain and Ireland and the continent. The Open Championship
The Open Championship, often referred to as The Open or the British Open, is the oldest golf tournament in the world, and one of the most prestigious. Matteo Delpodio (born 23 June 1985) is an Italian professional golfer. Delpodio was born in Turin, Italy. In amateur golf, he won several national championships before turning professional in 2006. Delpodio played on the Alps Tour from 2007 to 2010. He won three tournaments and the Order of Merit in 2010. This earned him a spot on the Challenge Tour for 2011. Carlos Del Moral
Carlos del Moral Barilari (born 30 August 1985) is a Spanish professional golfer. Amateur and early professional career Born in Valencia, he was a successful junior, winning the Carris Trophy and the Duke of York Young Champions Trophy before taking up a scholarship at the University of Oklahoma, where he played on the golf team alongside Anthony Kim. Del Moral turned professional in 2005, and joined the second-tier Challenge Tour for the following season, soon winning the Texbond Open in Italy and ending the year 51st in the rankings.
