Ray Ofisa Treviranus (born 22 March 1980), commonly known as Ray Ofisa, is a Samoan former professional rugby union player. He primarily played as a flanker Ofisa spent most of his professional career with Irish provincial side Connacht, earning over 100 caps for the team after joining from North Otago in the 2006–07 season. Ofisa also represented internationally, making one appearance for the national side against in 2011. Ofisa Treviranus (born 31 March 1984) is a Samoan rugby union player. Treviranus played for Samoa's national sevens team and was part of the 12 men squad who won the IRB Sevens World Series in 2010. Treviranus made his debut for the fifteen men code against Japan in Sigatoka on 18 June 2009. He was part of the 2011 Rugby World Cup squad for Samoa, and played in three matches. As of 2015, he is the captain of the Samoan national team. After the World Cup, Treviranus was signed by English club London Irish. Flanker (rugby Union)
Flanker is a position in the sport of rugby union. Each team of 15 players includes two flankers, who play in the Forwards (rugby union), forwards, and are generally classified as either List of rugby union terms#B, blindside or List of rugby union terms#O, openside flankers, numbers 6 and 7 respectively. The name comes from their position in a Scrum (rugby union), scrum in which they 'flank' each set of forwards. The North Otago Rugby Football Union (NORFU) is a New Zealand rugby union province based in Oamaru and compete in the Heartland Championship. They are one of the strongest teams in The Heartland Championship, winning the Meads Cup section of the competition in its second year, 2007 as well as 2010.
