Ray Montgomerie
Ray Montgomerie (born 17 April 1961) is a Scottish former footballer who played as a defender for Dumbarton, Kilmarnock and Partick Thistle. Montgomerie started out playing with his local Scottish Junior club Saltcoats Victoria before signing for Newcastle United where he spent his formative years in the senior ranks from 1979 until 1981. After returning to Scotland, Montgomerie signed for the ''Sons'' where he played right-back for seven seasons from 1981 until 1988, having scored 8 goals in 180 league appearances. Montgomerie then moved to Kilmarnock for £12,000 in the 1988 close season, where he was soon moved to centre-back and would be appointed the club's captain thereafter. Montgomerie's first match for ''Killie'' was in Dumfries at Palmerston Park versus Queen of the South on 13 August 1988. Stuart McLean (born 13 December 1955) is a Scottish former footballer whose position was right-back. In his professional career, McLean played solely for Kilmarnock, amassing over 500 games in all competitions over sixteen seasons; he is third on the club's all-time appearance list. Club career McLean joined Kilmarnock as a teenager from Ayrshire club Darvel Juniors in 1974, and spent some time in the youth team ''Kilmarnock Star'' alongside future team-mate at senior level, Paul Clarke. After making his debut in November 1974 versus Clyde in a 4–2 defeat a few weeks before his 19th birthday, McLean thereafter became a regular in the first-team under Willie Fernie, starting 19 league games during that season in Scotland's top flight. James Fowler (footballer)
James Fowler (born 26 October 1980) is a Scottish professional football coach and former player. As a player, Fowler spent fourteen years of his career with Kilmarnock, making over 400 league appearances, and represented Scotland internationally at under-21 and B levels. Towards the end of his playing career, Fowler signed with Queen of the South as a player/coach. He was soon afterwards appointed team manager, and held this position until April 2016. He then assisted Jack Ross at St Mirren and Sunderland, the latter where he became caretaker manager after Ross’ departure. Fowler returned to Kilmarnock in November 2019 as Head of Football Operations and was interim manager on two occasions. He left the position in July 2022. Thomas McLean Jr. (born 2 June 1947 in Larkhall) is a Scottish former professional football player and manager. McLean played for Kilmarnock, Rangers and Scotland as a midfielder. He managed Morton, Motherwell, Hearts, Raith Rovers and Dundee United. Early life McLean grew up in Ashgill, Lanarkshire, along with his elder brothers Jim and Willie, who would also become successful players and managers. Playing career A traditional tricky winger, McLean started his career at Kilmarnock, where at one point all three brothers were at the club together, Jim and Tommy as players and Willie as a coach. Saltcoats
Saltcoats ( gd, Baile an t-Salainn) is a town on the west coast of North Ayrshire, Scotland. The name is derived from the town's earliest industry when salt was harvested from the sea water of the Firth of Clyde, carried out in small cottages along the shore. It is part of the 'Three Towns' conurbation along with Ardrossan and Stevenston and is the third largest town in North Ayrshire. History In the late eighteenth century, several shipyards operated at Saltcoats, producing some sixty to seventy ships. The leading shipbuilder was William Ritchie, but in 1790 he moved his business to Belfast. By the early nineteenth century, the town had stopped producing ships.
