Football Focus
''Football Focus'' is a BBC television magazine programme launched in 1974 covering football, normally broadcast live on BBC One on Saturday lunchtimes during the football season. From the 2009–10 season to the 2020–21 season Football Focus was hosted by Dan Walker and from the 2021–22 season is presented by the former England and Arsenal right-back Alex Scott. As of 2021, presenter Alex Scott is usually joined by the BBC's main football pundits such as Mark Lawrenson, Jermaine Jenas, Martin Keown, Dion Dublin, and Micah Richards. HDTV
High-definition television (HD or HDTV) describes a television system which provides a substantially higher image resolution than the previous generation of technologies. Jermaine Jenas
Jermaine Anthony Jenas ( ; born 18 February 1983) is an English television presenter, football pundit and former professional footballer. He played as a central midfielder for English club sides Nottingham Forest, Newcastle United, Tottenham Hotspur, Aston Villa and Queens Park Rangers, scoring a career total of 39 goals from 341 league appearances. He also appeared 21 times for the senior England national football team, scoring one goal. Bob Wilson (footballer Born 1941)
Robert Primrose Wilson (born 30 October 1941) is a former Scotland international football goalkeeper and later broadcaster. As a player, Wilson was most noted for his 11-year playing career at Arsenal where he made over 300 appearances. Wilson as well featured as a youth and senior international for Scotland. After retiring as a player, he turned to coaching and broadcasting, presenting football programmes on television for 28 years until 2002. Wilson has also gone on to create a charity organization known as the Willow Foundation. Sam Leitch
Samuel James Leitch (1927–1980) was a British journalist and television sports presenter. He came from a Scottish family but was born in Great Yarmouth in Norfolk, England. He was the editor of ''Match of the Day'' at the BBC for some years. For several years up to 1974 he presented the "Football Preview" slot on ''Grandstand'' on a Saturday, previewing the day's matches. This was later to evolve into ''Football Focus''. Although the error has been attributed to commentators David Coleman or Frank Bough, it was Leitch who, when the Scottish football team Raith Rovers won a match, said "They'll be dancing in the streets of Raith tonight". Premier League
The Premier League (legal name: The Football Association Premier League Limited) is the highest level of the men's English football league system. Contested by 20 clubs, it operates on a system of promotion and relegation with the English Football League (EFL). Seasons typically run from August to May with each team playing 38 matches (playing all 19 other teams both home and away). Grandstand (BBC)
''Grandstand'' was a British television sport programme. Broadcast between 1958 and 2007, it was one of the BBC's longest running sports shows, alongside ''BBC Sports Personality of the Year''. Simon Brotherton
Simon Charles Brotherton is a sports commentator for the BBC, appearing on Match of the Day and BBC Radio Five Live, as well as BT Sport television. Brotherton was still at school when he began his career with BBC Local Radio and developed further while he was studying at Birmingham University where he joined Birmingham's local BBC radio station WM. Jonathan Pearce (commentator)
Jonathan Mark Pearce (born 23 December 1959) is an English sports commentator most known for his work on '' Robot Wars'' and more recently football for the BBC and BT Sport. He worked for Radio Five Live and ''Match of the Day'', as well as participating in other lower-profile sports programmes. Early life and career Growing up, Pearce had the intention of becoming a footballer, which subsequently ended when he broke his leg. He started his career in broadcasting at BBC Radio Bristol, and his first match commentary was Bristol Rovers against Exeter City in the League Cup. He became a sports editor at the age of 23. In 1987, he moved to London and Capital Radio where he launched ''Capital Gold Sportstime'' on Capital Gold a year later. Guy Mowbray
Guy Nicholas Mowbray (born 16 February 1972) is an English football commentator, who primarily appears on the BBC and BT Sport. While working for Eurosport at the 1998 World Cup, he became the youngest ever television commentator on a World Cup Final, aged 26. Early life Mowbray's career began in the mid-1990s through the ClubCall network, a series of premium rate phone lines containing club information and commentaries. He joined BBC Radio York where he covered rugby league, cricket and football. He then moved to commercial station Sun FM in Sunderland and then to Metro Radio in Newcastle. Steve Wilson (born 1967) is a British television commentator for football matches who works on the BBC's ''Match of the Day'' programme. Early life and education Wilson was born and brought up on the Wirral. He studied a degree in English at the University of Liverpool. He was present on the Leppings Lane terrace at the time of the Hillsborough disaster, in a less populated section.
