Ray Miller (baseball Manager)
Raymond Roger Miller (April 30, 1945May 4, 2021) was an American Coach (baseball)#Pitching and bullpen coaches, pitching coach and Manager (baseball), manager in Major League Baseball (MLB). A highly regarded pitching coach, he was known for bringing improvement to the pitchers he coached at many stops over his career. His successes as a pitching coach twice led him to be promoted to manager, where he was much less successful. He managed the Minnesota Twins (1985–86) and the Baltimore Orioles (1998–99), each for less than two seasons and with a losing record each time, compiling an overall managerial record of 266–297 (.472). Early life Miller was born in Takoma Park, Maryland, on April 30, 1945. He was raised in nearby Forestville, Maryland, Forestville and attended Suitland High School, where he was selected as an all-state player in baseball. Raymond Peter Miller (February 12, 1888 – April 7, 1927) was a Major League Baseball first baseman who played for one season. Ray Miller (Ohio Legislator)
Ray Miller is a Democratic politician and a former member of the Ohio General Assembly. Life and career A graduate of the Ohio State University and a former staffer in the Carter Administration, Miller was elected to the Ohio House of Representatives in 1982, succeeding Leslie Brown. He won reelection in 1984, and 1986. In 1988, he won a fourth term, and was named as President of the Legislative Black Caucus. He again won reelection in 1990, and 1992. In 1993, Miller resigned from the House to create a policy nonprofit organization, and was succeeded by Charleta Tavares. However, his retirement was short lived. He again ran for the seat in 1998, and won to succeed Tavares, who had left to take a seat on Columbus City Council. He was reelected in 2000. Ray Miller (bandleader)
Ray Miller (1896–1974) was an American bandleader who was popular during the 1920s. In 1924 his orchestra performed at the White House with Al Jolson, the first jazz band to do so. Biography Relatively little is known of Miller's private life. He may have been born in Reading, Pennsylvania. In 1916, he worked as a singing waiter at the Casino Gardens in Chicago, home of the Original Dixieland Jazz Band (ODJB). Miller followed the ODJB to New York City, where he formed a band, the Black and White Melody Boys, featuring himself on drums and New Orleans native Tom Brown on trombone. The band performed in vaudeville and featured in several musical productions before disbanding. Miller formed a dance band around 1920.
