Ray Marinko
Raymond George "Ray" Marinko (29 November 1935 – 31 March 2018) was an Australian rules footballer who played for the and East Perth Football Clubs in the Western Australian National Football League (WANFL). The son of former West Perth and player Don Marinko, Sr., Marinko excelled at junior football, and began his career at West Perth in 1954, at the age of 18. He transferred to East Perth in 1957, and spent two seasons with the club before transferring back to West Perth, where he remained until his retirement in 1965. Overall, Marinko played 160 senior games for West Perth, including the 1960 premiership, and 24 for East Perth, in a number of different positions. The Sunday Football League Western Australia (SFL WA), commonly known as the Sunday Football League (SFL), is a defunct semi-professional Australian rules football league that was based in the southern suburbs of Perth, Western Australia. 1961 Brisbane Carnival
The 1961 Brisbane Carnival was the 15th edition of the Australian National Football Carnival, an Australian rules football interstate competition. It was the last carnival to be held in Queensland. It was one of the most competitive carnivals to have been played, with the traditional carnival powerhouse Victoria going down to Western Australia in the final game to give Western Australia its first carnival victory since 1921. Despite Victoria comfortably accounting for South Australia, the Western Australians narrowly lost their game to South Australia. In Australian sport, the best and fairest award recognises the player(s) adjudged to have had the best performance in a game or over a season for a given sporting club or competition. The awards are sometimes dependent on not receiving a suspension for misconduct or breaching the rules during that season. In the Australian Football League (AFL), the Brownlow Medal is awarded to the player who, provided he has not been suspended during the season, receives the most votes from the umpires for being the Fairest and Best player in games during the home and away season. Timothy Brian Foley (1 January 1933 – 18 August 1998) is a former Australian rules footballer who played with West Perth in the West Australian National Football League (WANFL). He occupies a forward pocket in West Perth's official 'Team of the Century'. Arthur Olliver
Arthur Olliver (10 December 1916 – 31 May 1988) was an Australian rules footballer in the (then) Victorian Football League (VFL), and coached successfully in the then Western Australian National Football League (WANFL). A champion Footscray ruckman over 16 years with the club, Olliver held the games record for the Bulldogs prior to Ted Whitten. In seven seasons as captain-coach Olliver got the Bulldogs into the finals three times, and saw them narrowly miss out twice. One of Footscray's longest serving players, Olliver played 272 VFL games and kicked 354 goals for the club.
