According to legend, Rawhide Creek was named in about 1849 on account of a man who was skinned to death there by Indians, his hide was left as a warning to other settlers. The “Legend” Rawhide is from Niobrara County Wyoming. Rawhide Creek's headwaters are located on Denny Ranch, Southwest of Lusk, Wyoming. The Legend of the Rawhide is re-enacted every July in Lusk. It is the state's most populous county, home to well over one-fourth of Nebraska's residents. Its county seat is Omaha, the state's largest city. Colfax County is a county in the U.S. state of Nebraska. As of the 2010 United States Census, the population was 10,515. Its county seat is Schuyler. The county and its seat are named after US Vice President (1869-1873) Schuyler Colfax.
