Ravi Shankar Jha
Justice Ravi Shanker Jha (born 14 October 1961) is an Indian judge, currently serving as the Chief Justice of Punjab and Haryana High Court. He is former Acting Chief Justice of Madhya Pradesh High Court. Career He obtained his Law Degree in year 1986 from Rani Durgavati Vishwavidyalaya, Jabalpur. He was enrolled as an Advocate on 20 September 1986 with the State Bar Council of Madhya Pradesh and joined the chamber of Shri P. P. Naolekar in the year 1986. He practiced in Madhya Pradesh High Court since the day of enrollment. He was elevated as Additional Judge of Madhya Pradesh High Court on 18 October 2005 and became Permanent Judge on 2 February 2007. He was appointed Acting Chief Justice of Madhya Pradesh High Court on 10 June 2019 after retirement of Chief Justice Sanjay Kumar Seth. Rani Durgavati Vishwavidyalaya
Rani Durgavati Vishwavidyalaya (Rani Durgavati University), also known as University of Jabalpur, is a government university in Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh, India. It was named after the queen Rani Durgavati. History The university was constituted and established on 12 June 1956 under the Jabalpur University Act, 1956 (Act No. 22 of 1956) with territorial jurisdiction over the Jabalpur revenue district. It shifted to its present location at Saraswati Vihar, Pachpedi, Jabalpur in 1961. The university was renamed Rani Durgavati Vishwavidyalaya on 7 June 1983 by Act No. 23 of 1983 to honour the well-known valorous Gond Queen of Garha Mandla. It was reconstituted under M. P. Sanjay Kumar Seth (10 June 1957 – 30 April 2021) was an Indian Judge and former Chief Justice of Madhya Pradesh High Court. Career After passing B.A., LL.B., Seth was enrolled as an Advocate on 24 July 1981 and practised in Jabalpur on Civil and Constitutional matters. He served as an additional advocate general in the Madhya Pradesh High Court for the Government of Madhya Pradesh. Seth was appointed an additional Judge of Madhya Pradesh High Court on 21 March 2003 and was appointed Permanent Judge on 19 January 2004. He became the Acting Chief Justice of the Madhya Pradesh High Court after Justice Hemant Gupta's appointment in Supreme Court of India. In law, a person is acting in a position if they are not serving in the position on a permanent basis. This may be the case if the position has not yet been formally created, the person is only occupying the position on an interim basis, the person does not have a mandate, or if the person meant to execute the role is incompetent or incapacitated. Ramesh Chandra Lahoti
Ramesh Chandra Lahoti (1 November 1940 – 23 March 2022) was the 35th Chief Justice of India, serving from 1 June 2004 to 1 November 2005. Education and early career He joined the Bar in Guna district in 1960 and enrolled as an advocate in 1962. In April 1977, he was recruited directly from the Bar to the State Higher Judicial Service and was appointed a District & Sessions Judge. After functioning as a District & Sessions Judge for a year, he resigned in May 1978 and reverted to the Bar for practice mainly in the High Court. He was appointed the Additional Judge of the Madhya Pradesh High Court on 3 May 1988 and made permanent Judge on 4 August 1989. Lahoti was transferred to Delhi High Court on 7 February 1994.
