Raul Lino
Raul Lino da Silva, better known as Raul Lino (Lisbon, 21 November 1879 – 13 July 1974) was a Portuguese architect, designer, architectural theorist, and writer. Lino's architectural theses and studies revolved around the theory of the ''Casa Portuguesa'' (Portuguese: Portuguese house), an idealized concept of Portuguese residential architecture, planning, and lifestyle. The cities of Cascais and Sintra, along the Portuguese Riviera, boast the largest concentration of Lino's constructions out of anywhere. Lino played an active part in the cosmopolitanization of Cascais as a summer resort for the wealthy and notable and in the continuation of Sintra as a historicist, romanticist haven. ''Diário de Notícias'' () is a Portuguese daily newspaper published in Lisbon, Portugal. Established since 1864, the paper is considered a newspaper of record for Portugal. History and profile ''Diário de Notícias'' was first published in Lisbon on 29 December 1864 by Tomás Quintino Antunes and Eduardo Coelho. Azenhas do Mar is a seaside town (residential neighborhood) in the municipality of Sintra, Portugal. It is part of Colares civil parish. Azenhas do Mar means ''Watermills of the Sea'' and the name derives from a once-powerful stream that moved the watermills as it made its way to the sea. Casa De Santa Maria, Cascais
The Casa de Santa Maria (House of Saint Mary) was once a luxurious private residence in Cascais, Lisbon District, Portugal. It was acquired by the Cascais Municipality in October 2004 and is now a museum. It blends several different architectural styles and influences. History In the late 19th century, Jorge O'Neil, an aristocrat with many business connections, purchased some land near the Santa Marta area of Cascais. He first had built what is now the Condes de Castro Guimarães Museum and, a little later, commissioned the Casa de Santa Maria as a wedding present for his daughter. This dates from 1902 and was designed by the architect Raul Lino, who began his career in Cascais, designing a series of houses for friends. The Portuguese World Exhibition ( pt, Exposição do Mundo Português) was held in Lisbon in 1940 to mark 800 years since the foundation of the country and 300 years since the restoration of independence from Spain. The fair ran from 23 June to 2 December 1940, held on the Praça do Império, and was attended by 3 million people. Museum Of Portuguese Music (Estoril)
The Museum of Portuguese Music ( pt, Museu da Música Portuguesa) is a small museum housed in the Casa Verdades de Faria in Estoril, municipality of Cascais, Portugal, on the Portuguese Riviera. It contains a collection of Portuguese musical instruments and other items, as well as a music documentation centre, and is also used for recitals. The building The attractive building that houses the museum was commissioned in 1918 by Jorge O'Neil, a Portuguese / Irish aristocrat and businessman. O’Neill was also responsible for the construction of the Tower of San Sebastián and the Casa de Santa Maria, both in neighbouring Cascais. Originally known as the Torre de S.
