Ratchanok Intanon
Ratchanok Intanon ( th, รัชนก อินทนนท์, , ; born 5 February 1995) is a Thai badminton player who became the first Thai to become No.1 in women's singles. She is known for her relaxed hitting motion and light footwork, which has been described as 'balletic' by commentators such as Gillian Clark. She became the world champion in women's singles in 2013. Career 2008–2010 In 2008, Intanon entered the international circuit at the age of 13. The first international tournament she played was the Laos International series, in which she played both singles and doubles. She lost the singles final to Vietnam's Lê Ngọc Nguyên Nhung. Intanon won her first individual international title in 2009 by winning the Vietnam International Challenge when she was 14. She made history by becoming the youngest-ever champion at the 2009 BWF World Junior Championships at 14 in Malaysia by beating her compatriot Porntip Buranaprasertsuk. Yasothon Province
Yasothon province ( th, ยโสธร, ), one of Thailand's seventy-six provinces (''changwat''), lies in central northeastern Thailand also called Isan. The province was established by the revolutionary council of Field Marshal Thanom Kittikachorn, after its Announcement No. 70 which came into force on 3 March 1972. Neighboring provinces are (from north clockwise) Mukdahan, Amnat Charoen, Ubon Ratchathani, Sisaket, and Roi Et. Geography The northern half of the province consists of plains with low hills; the southern part consists of the river lowlands of the River Chi, with ponds and swamps. Yasothon's total forested area is or 8.7% of the province. Geology Yasothon soils (rhodic ferralsols) formed in the Triassic before the uplift of the Khorat Plateau, are relict soils made fertile by field termites through bioturbation. The 2022 Thomas & Uber Cup (officially known as the TotalEnergies BWF Thomas & Uber Cup Finals 2022 for sponsorship reasons) is the 32nd edition of the Thomas Cup and the 29th edition of the Uber Cup, the biennial international badminton championship contested by the men and women's national teams of the member associations of Badminton World Federation (BWF). The tournament will be hosted at Bangkok, Thailand in the Impact Arena from 8 to 15 May 2022. This marks the third time Thailand will host the Thomas Cup, and second time for the Uber Cup. Badminton Asia Championships
The Badminton Asia Championships (formerly Asian Badminton Championships until 2006) is a tournament organized by governing body Badminton Asia to crown the best badminton players in Asia. The tournament started in 1962 and is held annually since 1991. The event had rotated between team and individual competitions before the team event became null since 1994. At the 2003 event however, there is a controversy when China decided to pull out from the tournament at the last minute. Head coach Li Yongbo said that the tournament did not award any ranking points for the 2004 Summer Olympics event and wanted to give his players more time to rest. Some of the top players were also willing to pull out from the tournament since the competitiveness of the event was low. Badminton At The 2018 Asian Games – Women's Team
The badminton women's team tournament at the 2018 Asian Games in Jakarta took place from 19 to 22 August at Istora Gelora Bung Karno. The draw for the team event was held on 16 August. China team was the reigning champion after winning the gold medal in Incheon and Japan led the seeding. Mongolia withdrew from this event. Japan won the gold medal defeating second seed China 3–1 in the final, Indonesia and Thailand shared the bronze medal after losing in the semi-finals. Akane Yamaguchi lost the first match to Chen Yufei from China 21–15 21–12. In the next bout, Yuki Fukushima and Sayaka Hirota beat Chen Qingchen and Jia Yifan 21–12, 21–17, to make the team result 1–1.
