The Raspberry Pi Foundation is a UK-based educational Charity Commission for England and Wales, charity founded in 2008 to promote the study of computer science and related subjects globally, particularly among young people. It is best known for initiating the Raspberry Pi series of single-board computers. These are now designed and sold by Raspberry Pi Holdings, a publicly traded company of which the Foundation is the largest shareholder. While legally distinct, both entities share a mission to democratise access to computing. David Braben
David John Braben (born 2 January 1964) is an English video game developer and designer, founder and President of Frontier Developments, and co-creator of the ''Elite'' series of space trading video games, first published in 1984. He is also a co-founder of and works as a trustee for the Raspberry Pi Foundation, which in 2012 launched a low-cost computer for education. Biography Early life Braben was born in West Bridgford, Nottingham. He attended Buckhurst Hill County High School in Chigwell, Essex. He studied Natural Sciences at Jesus College, Cambridge, specialising in Electrical Science in his final year. Station Road is a road in southeast Cambridge, England.Station Area Conservation Appraisal', Quality Built Environments (QuBE), prepared for Cambridge City Council. June 2004. The International Bebras Challenge on Informatics is an annual computer science competition for primary and secondary school students around the world. With 85 member countries and more than 2.5 million participating students in 2025, the competition is the largest computer science competition in the world. Format The Bebras is a 45-minute multiple-choice test with 15 problems. The problems are divided into three pairs of 5, and classified as "easy", "medium" and "hard".
