Maija Rask
Maija-Liisa Rask (born 28 January 1951) is a Finnish retired politician and nurse. She represented Lapland in the Parliament of Finland as a member of the Social Democratic Party from 1991 to 2007. As minister of education from 1999 to 2003, she was one of the 29 signers of the Bologna declaration. Biography Rask was born on 28 January 1951 in Turku, Finland. She qualified as a registered nurse in 1974 and as a public health nurse in 1980. From 1974 to 1984, she worked at hospitals in Uppsala and Kemi. Rask received a degree in nursing education from the Kemi Institute of Health Care in 1983, where she became a teacher in 1985. She was elected to the city council of Kemi that year, and she was a presidential elector in the 1988 Finnish presidential election. Rask studied environmental protection at the University of Lapland, and received a degree in 1990. Rasmus Rask
Rasmus Kristian Rask (; born Rasmus Christian Nielsen Rasch; 22 November 1787 – 14 November 1832) was a Danish linguist and philologist. He wrote several grammars and worked on comparative phonology and morphology. Rask traveled extensively to study languages, first to Iceland, where he wrote the first grammar of Icelandic, and later to Russia, Persia, India, and Ceylon (now Sri Lanka). Shortly before his death, he was hired as professor of Eastern languages at the University of Copenhagen. Rask is especially known for his contributions to comparative linguistics, including an early formulation of what would later be known as Grimm's Law. He was elected as a member to the American Philosophical Society in 1829. Karin Rask (until 2005, Karin Lätsim; born 21 April 1979) is an Estonian stage, film and television actress, theatre teacher and clothing designer. Early life and education Karin Rask was born as Karin Lätsim in Haapsalu, in Lääne County in 1979. She attended secondary school at Haapsalu Gymnasium, graduating in 1997. From 1997 until 1998, she studied radio and program direction at Tallinn Pedagogical University (now, Tallinn University). Grethe Rask
Margrethe P. Rask (1930 – 12 December 1977), better known as Grethe Rask, was a Danish physician and surgeon in Zaïre (now the Democratic Republic of the Congo). After setting up her own hospital in the village of Abumombazi in 1972, she transferred to Danish Red Cross Hospital in Kinshasa in 1975. She returned to Denmark in 1977 after developing symptoms of an unknown infectious disease, which was later discovered to be AIDS. Three and a half years later in June 1981 the Centers for Disease Control recognized AIDS. Rask was one of the first non-Africans (along with Arvid Noe and Robert Rayford) and first non-men who have sex with men known to have died of AIDS-related causes. Gertrud Rask (167321 December 1735) was the first wife of the Danish-Norwegian missionary to Greenland Hans Egede and was the mother of the missionary and translator Paul Egede. Joakim "Jocke" Rask (born 8 January 1972) is a Swedish professional golfer. Rask's father, a scratch golfer, taught him to play as a six-year-old and he represented the Swedish boys' team. Rask concentrated on golf after an ice-hockey injury, and turned professional in 1992 at the age of 20.
