Raquel Maria Cabrita dos Santos (1946 —2006), better known as Raquel Maria, was a Portuguese stage, television and film actress. Early life Raquel Maria was born in Castro Verde in the Alentejo region of Portugal on 18 May 1946. Her father was a barber and her mother a maid. They moved to Barreiro, just south of the Portuguese capital of Lisbon in the Setúbal District, where she went to primary school. She had wanted to become an artist but had been unable to register in a school for lack of funds. Instead, she registered with the Cooperative of Portuguese Engravers in Lisbon, where she learned the techniques of drawing, engraving and serigraphy, studying outside working hours while working as a secretary. Castro Verde () is a town and a municipality of the Alentejo region of Portugal (in the historic district of Beja). The population in 2011 was 7,276, in an area of 569.44 km2. Alberto Jorge Seixas dos Santos (20 March 1936 – 10 December 2016) was a Portuguese film director. Biography Seixas Santos was born on 20 March 1936 in Lisbon, Portugal. António Campos (29 May 1922 – 8 March 1999) was one of the pioneer filmmakers of visual anthropology in Portugal. Mainly using pure documentary techniques, he shot ethnographic films and tried docufiction. As well as in fictional films, he used the methods of direct cinema to portrait the life of ancient human communities (ethnofiction) of his country. He started making films at the beginning of the sixties, at the same time as John Marshall (EU) and Michel Brault (Canada). António de Macedo (5 July 1931 − 5 October 2017) was Portuguese filmmaker, writer, university professor and lecturer. He gave up filmmaking in the 1990s as he felt systematically excluded from the state support programs of the Portuguese Ministry of Culture, the only financial source for film production in Portugal in that time. João César Monteiro Santos (2 February 1939, in Figueira da Foz – 3 February 2003, in Lisbon) was a Portuguese film director, actor, writer and film critic. Life and career João César Monteiro was born into a family with anti-clerical and anti-fascist ideals. His family moved to Lisbon when Monteiro was 15 years old to enable him to continue his studies. A sitcom, a portmanteau of situation comedy, or situational comedy, is a genre of comedy centered on a fixed set of characters who mostly carry over from episode to episode.
