Raquel Acinas Poncelas
Raquel Acinas Poncelas (born 12 April 1978 in L'Hospitalet) is a Spanish cyclist who has represented Spain at the 2008 and 2012 Summer Paralympics in both road and track events. She also competed at the 2013 World Championships. Personal Acinas was born in L'Hospitalet, Catalan town of Spain, near Barcelona city. She has a degree in architecture and works in the field as a technical architect. On 1 August 2004, Acinas was 26 years old, she had a femoral amputation her left leg following an accident in which an SUV rammed into her motorcycle. In 2011, she was one of several people featured in a documentary titled La Teoría del Espiralismo whose creation was sponsored by the Fundación Cultural Banest and which was promoted by the Spanish Paralympic Committee. Velòdrom D'Horta
Velòdrom d'Horta is a velodrome located in Barcelona, Catalonia, Spain. It was the track cycling venue for the 1992 Summer Olympics and was also the venue for the UCI Track Cycling World Championships in 1984. The velodrome, designed by Esteve Bonell and Francesc Rius, was built in 1984 as the first of Barcelona's construction projects in preparation for the bid for the 1992 Summer Olympics in 1986. It was the first velodrome built to new FIAC rules permitting a track if surfaced with wood. The building won the FAD architecture prize in 1985. It was the last permanent open-air velodrome used for Olympic Track Cycling events (Atlanta's velodrome at Stone Mountain in 1996 was temporary). Plan ADOP ( es, Plan ADO Paralímpico) is designed to assist elite disabled sportspeople in Spain to prepare for the Paralympic Games. Created in 2005, it has supported sportspeople competing at the 2006 Winter Paralympics, 2008 Summer Paralympics, 2010 Winter Paralympics and 2012 Summer Paralympics. Sponsors have included Santa Lucia Seguros and Iberdrola. Purpose Plan ADOP is designed to assist elite disabled sportspeople in Spain prepare for the Paralympic Games. Selection criteria prior to 2008 was based on results performance. If you failed to perform, your scholarship was not renewed or you would not be in consideration for a new scholarship. In paralympic sport, C2 is a para-cycling classification. The UCI recommends this be coded as MC2 or WC2. Definition PBS defined this classification as "Riders with upper or lower limb impairments and moderate to severe neurological ." Spanish Paralympic Committee ( es, Comité Paralímpico Español, CPE) is a Spanish non-profit sport organisation founded in 1995, that oversees five national disability sport federations. The organisation has a Secretary General and a President. Since 2005, they have been supported by Plan ADO. In 2000, the CPE was involved in a cheating scandal at the 2000 Summer Paralympics.
