Ranmuthu Duwa
''Ranmuthu Duwa'' ( en, Island of Treasures) was the first colour full-length Sinhalese language film to be produced in Sri Lanka in 1962. It was co-produced by Shesha Palihakkara, Arthur C. Clarke and directed by Mike Wilson, who also made his debut as a feature director. The film stars some of those who would go on to become big names in the Sinhala Cinema, such as Gamini Fonseka, Joe Abeywickrema and Jeevarani Kurukulasuriya in the leading roles. Playback singing was by Nanda Malini, Narada Disasekara and W.D. Amaradeva. The lyrics were written by Chandraratne Manawasinghe. ''Ran Muthu Duwa'' was a landmark in the history of the Lankan cinema, which at the time was only 15 years old (having started in 1947). Shesha Palihakkara
David Sydney Loku Palihakkara (June 5, 1928 – July 12, 2009), popularly as Shesha Palihakkara, was a Sri Lankan dancer, film actor, and producer. He achieved critical recognition with a starring role in Lester James Peries' masterpiece ''Rekava'' and as producer of ''Getawarayo'', ''Saravita'' and ''Ranmuthu Duwa''. Personal life Palihakkara was born in the village of Ruppagoda, in Kadawatha of the Gampaha district. He attended the St. Benedict's College, Colombo in Kotahena and St. Joseph's College in Colombo. At the age of 14, Palihakkara witnessed the Sinhala dancer Chitrasena perform in the Vidura ballet and was inspired to be a dancer. Palihakkara left school without getting his Senior School Certificate in his late teens, and went to India to train at Shanthi Nikethan. Narada Disasekara
Narada Disasekara (7 June 1933 – 19 May 2010) was a Sri Lankan classical singer. He was the first singer to win the Sarasaviya Award when he was awarded for Best Male Playback Singing in 1964 for his duet ''Galana Gangaki Jeevithe'' with a young Nanda Malini for ''Ranmuthu Duwa''. Personal life He completed education from Kalutara Vidyalaya. Narada's sister's son is Nalendra Amarasinghe and his wife is Girlie. Narada was good at sports like cricket during school times. He also studied music and played violin under the school teacher Seemon Lokuliyana. Disasekara was first married to radio host and actress Tileka Ranasinghe in 1979. The couple has one son, Saranga. The music of Sri Lanka has its roots in five primary influences: ancient folk rituals, Hindu religious traditions, Buddhist religious traditions, the legacy of European colonisation, and the commercial and historical influence of nearby Indian culture—specifically, Kollywood cinema and Bollywood cinema. ''Getawarayo'' is a 1964 Sri Lankan drama film co-directed by Mike Wilson and Tissa Liyanasuriya and produced by Shesha Palihakkara. The film starring Gamini Fonseka in lead role along with Sobani Amarasinghe, Joe Abeywickrema, Jeevarani Kurukulasuriya and Tony Ranasinghe made supportive roles. Vijaya Ramanayake ( si, විජය රාමනායක ; 1 April 1945 – 26 October 2016) is a Sri Lankan film and music producer, songwriter, journalist and author. He was the founder and producer of Tharanga Music and Film. Ramanayake was the first to introduce compact cassette tapes to Sri Lanka.
