Rang Birangi (colorful) is a 1983 Hindi film, based on a story by the Hindi writer Kamleshwar (writer), Kamleshwar, and directed by Hrishikesh Mukherjee. This comedy classic is most remembered for the Utpal Dutt's role of ACP Dhurandhar Bhatawdekar, which won him the Filmfare Best Comedian Award for the year. Synopsis Ajay Sharma is a very successful entrepreneur who has now transformed into a workaholic and is seen ignoring his wife of seven years, Nirmala. Enter Ravi Kapoor, a friend of Ajay notices Nirmala's loneliness and decides to fix things by rekindling the spark in their life. Hrishikesh Mukherjee
Hrishikesh Mukherjee (30 September 1922 – 27 August 2006) was an Indian film director, editor and writer. He is regarded as one of the greatest filmmakers of Indian cinema. Popularly known as ''Hrishi-da'', he directed 42 films during his career spanning over four decades, and is named the pioneer of the 'middle cinema' of India. Renowned for his social films that reflected the changing middle-class ethos, Mukherjee "carved a middle path between the extravagance of mainstream cinema and the stark realism of art cinema". Kaka Hathrasi
Kaka Hathrasi (18 September 1906 – 18 September 1995) was a Hindi satirist and humorist poet of India. Life and career Hathrasi was born as Prabhu Lal Garg. He wrote under the pen name ''Kaka Hathrasi''. He chose "Kaka", as he played the character in a play which made him popular, and "Hathrasi" after the name of his hometown Hathras. He has 42 works to his credit, comprising a collection of humorous and satirical poems, prose and plays published by various publishers. He also wrote three books on Indian classical music under the pen name "Vasant". In 1932, he established ''Sangeet Karyalaya'' (initially Garg and Co.), a publishing house for the books on Indian classical music and dance and started publishing a monthly magazine ''Sangeet'' in 1935. Ustad Faiyaz Khan (8 February 1886 5 November 1950) was an Indian classical vocalist, an exponent of the Agra gharana of Hindustani classical music.
