Raneem El-Gedawy
Raneem El-Gedawy ( ar, رنيم الجداوي; born February 24, 1997), known also as Raneem Mohamed (), is an Egyptian basketball player. She plays professionally for Al Ahly women's team and the Egypt women's national basketball team. College El-Gedawy was a student of Western Kentucky University. During her freshman season, she averaged nine points and 7.1 rebounds with 42 total blocks and 30 steals. She became the first player to capture "C-USA Freshman of the Year honors". She was named "C-USA Freshman of the Week" four times while becoming the first WKU player to be honored as the "USBWA National Freshman of the Week". As a sophomore El-Gedawy started all 35 games and finished the season with six double-double performances. As a junior, she averaged 17.6 points per game, a double-double with 11.0 rebounds per game. The 2021 AfroBasket Women was the 25th edition of the tournament and held from 18 to 26 September 2021 in Yaoundé, Cameroon. The top two teams qualified for one of the qualifying tournaments for the 2022 FIBA Women's Basketball World Cup. 2023 Women's Afrobasket
The 2023 AfroBasket Women was the 28th edition of the tournament and held from 28 July to 5 August 2023 in Kigali, Rwanda. Nigeria won their fourth consecutive and sixth overall title after defeating Senegal in the final. Format The 12 teams were split into four groups of three teams. The first-placed team qualified to the quarterfinals while the other two teams played in a playoff round. A second-placed team faced off against a third-placed team and vice versa. A knockout-system was used after the preliminary round and the losing teams of the quarterfinals were playing classification games while the winners played out the champion.
