Randy Gazzola
Randy Gazzola (born September 13, 1993) is a Canadian professional ice hockey defenceman. He is currently playing for the HC Asiago in the ICE Hockey League. He previously played amateur for the UNB Varsity Reds of the AUS and at the junior level with the Val-d'Or Foreurs of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL). Playing career Gazzola played in the QMJHL for 3 seasons 2012–13 to 2013–14, was rewarded for his outstanding play when he was named to the 2013–14 QMJHL First All-Star Team. After his junior career, Randy went on to play CIS university hockey at the University of New Brunswick Varsity Reds. Randy made an immediate impact at UNB, being selected as the conference Rookie of the Year as well as being selected to the CIS All-Rookie team. He helped UNB to the 2015 University Cup final before losing to defending champion Alberta Golden Bears 6-3. Quebec Major Junior Hockey League
The Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (french: Ligue de hockey junior majeur du Québec; abbreviated ''QMJHL'' in English, ''LHJMQ'' in French) is one of the three major junior ice hockey leagues that constitute the Canadian Hockey League. The league includes teams in the provinces of Quebec, Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, and Prince Edward Island. The current president of the QMJHL is Gilles Courteau. The President's Cup is the championship trophy of the league. The QMJHL champion then goes on to compete in the Memorial Cup against the OHL and WHL champions, and the CHL host team. Kelly Cup
The Patrick J. Kelly Cup goes to the playoff champion of the ECHL. The Kelly Cup has been awarded to teams since 1997. Prior to 1997, the playoff winner was awarded the Riley Cup, named after former American Hockey League president Jack Riley. The current cup is named after Patrick J. Kelly, the league's first commissioner. The cup is loaned to the winning team for one year and is returned at the start of the following year's playoffs, although the trophy itself has been replaced three times with the first two iterations preserved in the Hockey Hall of Fame. The Kelly Cup Playoffs Most Valuable Player award is also given out as part of the Kelly Cup Championship ceremonies. The ECHL (formerly the East Coast Hockey League) is a mid-level professional ice hockey league based in Shrewsbury, New Jersey, with teams scattered across the United States and Canada. It is a tier below the American Hockey League (AHL). Fort Wayne Komets
The Fort Wayne Komets are a minor league ice hockey team in the ECHL. They play their home games at the Allen County War Memorial Coliseum in Fort Wayne, Indiana. This team was previously a member of the Central Hockey League, the original International Hockey League, and the second International Hockey League. 2016 CIS University Cup
The 2016 CIS Men's University Cup Hockey Tournament (54th Annual) was held March 17–20, 2016 in Halifax, Nova Scotia. It was the second of two consecutive CIS Championships to be held at the Scotiabank Centre in Halifax. Saint Mary's University was the designated host for this championship as St. Francis Xavier University was the host in 2015 (at the same venue). The St. Francis Xavier X-Men did qualify for this event by winning the AUS Championships. This was the most successful tournament for attendance setting a new record of 43,513. It also proved to be the last Men's University Cup that was branded as a CIS championship. CIS University Cup
The David Johnston University Cup is a national collegiate sports award, presented annually to the champion of a season-ending tournament played by U Sports men's ice hockey teams in Canada. The UQTR Patriotes are the current champions for the 2021–2022 season. The Alberta Golden Bears have won the most championships with 16, and have also appeared in another seven finals. Originally called the CIAU University Cup in 1962, with minor changes through the decades when Canada's national university sports organization changed its own name, the trophy's name was changed on March 13, 2018, to honour David Johnston, a few months after he served as Governor General of Canada. The 2015 CIS Men's University Cup Hockey Tournament (53rd Annual) was held March 20–23, 2014. It was the first of two consecutive CIS Championships to be held at the Scotiabank Centre in Halifax jointly hosted by the St. Francis Xavier University and Saint Mary's University.
