Randy Cook
Randall William Cook (born 1951) is an American special effects artist most known for ''The Lord of the Rings'' trilogy. He worked on ''Ghostbusters'', as designer, sculptor and animator of the 'Terror Dogs'; '' The Gate'', as visual effects designer and director; ''King Kong'' as second unit director. He currently works as a consultant and is preparing several personal properties for production. ''The Return of the King'' is the third and final volume of J. R. R. Tolkien's ''The Lord of the Rings'', following '' The Fellowship of the Ring'' and '' The Two Towers''. It was published in 1955. The story begins in the kingdom of Gondor, which is soon to be attacked by the Dark Lord Sauron. Title and publication Tolkien conceived of ''The Lord of the Rings'' as a single work comprising six "books" plus extensive appendices. In 1953, he proposed titles for the six books to his publisher, Rayner Unwin; Book Five was to be ''The War of the Ring'', while Book Six was to be ''The End of the Third Age''. These titles were eventually used in the (2000) ''Millennium edition''. He is the current director of the Academy Award-winning Weta Digital, having joined the company in 2001. Alex Funke (born October 12, 1944 in Santa Barbara, California) is a special effects photographer. Career He worked with Charles and Ray Eames for eleven years, a period he deemed important to his career success. His first Oscar was a shared one for '' Total Recall''. Funke became noted as an expert on miniatures and was brought to New Zealand for work on ''The Lord of the Rings'' film trilogy. ''The Two Towers'' is the second volume of J. R. R. Tolkien's high fantasy novel ''The Lord of the Rings''. It is preceded by '' The Fellowship of the Ring'' and followed by '' The Return of the King''. Title and publication ''The Lord of the Rings'' is composed of six "books", aside from an introduction, a prologue and six appendices. Sir Richard Leslie Taylor (born 8 February 1965) is the founder, creative director and head of New Zealand film prop and special effects company Wētā Workshop. Early life Taylor was born in Cheadle, Cheshire, England, on 8 February 1965, and emigrated as a child to New Zealand, where his family lived at Te Hihi, and later the Auckland suburb of Patumahoe. He was naturalised as a New Zealand citizen in 1974. Taylor studied at Wesley College, Paerata, and then became a graduate of the former Wellington Polytechnic.
