Randal Giannetto
Randal J. Giannetto (born 27 December 1956) is an American lawyer and politician. Randal Giannetto was born on 27 December 1956 to parents Carl and Barbara Giannetto. He attended Marshalltown High School. After graduating in 1975, Giannetto served in the United States Army from 1977 to 1980. He subsequently enrolled at Marshalltown Community College, completing his studies there in 1983. By 1985, he had earned a degree in political science and history from the University of Iowa. After completing his juris doctor degree at the University of Iowa College of Law in 1988, Giannetto began practicing law in Marshalltown. Marshalltown High School
Marshalltown High School (MHS) is public high school located in Marshalltown, Iowa and is home to 1,600 students in grades 9–12. It is a part of the Marshalltown Community School District. The district, and therefore the high school, serves almost all of Marshalltown, Albion, and Haverhill. History The first Marshalltown High School was located north of downtown Marshalltown on Grant Street before moving to the present Miller Middle School. In 1965, the present Marshalltown High School building opened and has experienced minor additions including a library, weightroom, auditorium and classroom wings. Death Penalty In Iowa
Capital punishment has been abolished in Iowa since 1965. Forty-five men were executed by hanging in Iowa between 1834 and 1963 for crimes including murder, rape, and robbery. The first time that Iowa abolished the death penalty was in 1872, as a result of anti-death sentiment in the state, much due to Quaker, Unitarian and Universalist religious sentiment. By contrast, Presbyterians and Congregationalists advocated the retention of capital punishment, on biblical grounds. Anti-death penalty sentiment had been present in Iowa from its beginnings – first territorial Governor of Iowa Territory, Robert Lucas, at his first message to the Iowa Territorial Assembly in November 1838, advocated that capital punishment should be abolished.
