Ramón Mifflin
Ramón Antonio Mifflin Páez (born 5 April 1947) is a former Peruvian football player. Career He started his career in Centro Iqueño in 1963, by 1965 he played in Defensor Arica, and signed with Peruvian team Sporting Cristal in 1968 after being named player of the year. He then started in the 1970 FIFA World Cup for the Peru national football team with Héctor Chumpitaz, Teófilo Cubillas, Roberto Challe, and Hugo Sotil which were eliminated. After his play in the World Cup, he was signed by Racing Club of Argentina, and followed by Santos of Brazil where he became a close friend of Edson Arantes do Nascimento – Pelé. When Pele retired from Brazilian soccer, he signed for the New York Cosmos of the North American Soccer League (NASL). Pele recommended several players to come and join the NY Cosmos, among them, Carlos Alberto of Brazil and Ramon Mifflin from Peru. Teófilo Cubillas
Teófilo Juan Cubillas Arizaga (; born 8 March 1949) is a Peruvian former footballer who played as an attacking midfielder. He was selected as Peru's greatest ever player in an IFFHS poll, in which he was also included in the world's Top 50. He was renowned for his technique, shooting ability and free kick ability. Nicknamed ''El Nene'' ''(The Kid)'', he was part of the Peru national team that won the 1975 Copa América. He helped Peru reach the quarter finals at the 1970 FIFA World Cup and again at the 1978 World Cup and was elected the South American Footballer of the Year in 1972. In 2004, Pelé selected Cubillas as one of the FIFA 100, a list of 125 footballing greats. Soccer Bowl '77
Soccer Bowl '77 was the championship final of the 1977 NASL season. The New York Cosmos (who had dropped " New York" from their name in the off-season to simply "Cosmos") took on the Seattle Sounders. The match was played on August 28, 1977 at Civic Stadium, in Portland, Oregon. The game was also noteworthy as the final competitive match for Pelé, the Brazilian footballer widely acknowledged as the sport's greatest player. The Cosmos won the match, 2–1, to claim their second North American championship. The match was broadcast on TVS. Venue Civic Stadium (now called Providence Park) in Portland, Oregon, was selected as the host of Soccer Bowl '77 by the NASL on October 15, 1976. The 1982 FIFA World Cup was the 12th FIFA World Cup, a quadrennial Association football, football tournament for men's senior national teams, and was played in Spain between 13 June and 11 July 1982. The foundation aims to build an exhaustive archive of football-related information from around the world. North American Soccer League (1968–1984)
The North American Soccer League (NASL) was the top-level major professional soccer league in the United States and Canada that operated from 1968 to 1984. It was the first soccer league to be successful on a national scale in the United States. The league final was called the Soccer Bowl from 1975 to 1983 and the Soccer Bowl Series in its final year, 1984. The league was headed by Commissioner Phil Woosnam from 1969 to 1983. The NASL laid the foundations for soccer (or association football) in the United States that helped lead to the country hosting the 1994 FIFA World Cup and the set-up of Major League Soccer (MLS) in 1996.
