Ramsey Wharton
Ramsey Wharton (October 10, 1855 - November 1908) was an American politician and the mayor of Jackson, Mississippi, from 1897 to 1899 and from January 18, 1905 to November 1908. He also was in the Mississippi Senate, representing the 12th district, from 1900 to 1904. He was a Democrat. Biography Wharton was born on October 10, 1855, in Mississippi. He was in the insurance business. He first became the mayor of Jackson, Mississippi, from 1897 to 1899. Oliver Clifton
Oliver Clifton (c. 1847 - January 2, 1905) was a member of the Mississippi House of Representatives and three-time mayor of Jackson, Mississippi. Biography Oliver Clifton was born in about 1847 in Jackson, Mississippi. He first became the mayor of Jackson from 1870 to 1871. He then served in the Mississippi House of Representatives from his election in 1875 to 1878, representing Hinds County Hinds County is a county located in the U.S. state of Mississippi. Hinds County is a county located in the U.S. state of Mississippi. With its county seats (Raymond and the state's capital, Jackson), Hinds is the most populous county in Mississippi with a 2020 census population of 227,742 residents. Hinds County is a central part of the Jackson metropolitan statistical area. It is a professional, educational, business and industrial hub in the state. It is bordered on the northwest by the Big Black River and on the east by the Pearl River. It is one county width away from the Yazoo River and the southern border of the Mississippi Delta.
