Ramlal Joshi
Ramlal Joshi is a Nepalese writer and educator from Dhangadi. In 2016, he won the Madan Puraskar for his short–story collection, ''Aina (novel), Aina''. Joshi is a resident of Dhangadhi city in Kailali District, Kailali district of Sudurpashchim Province, Sudurpashchim province. Previously, he had been a political activist, a journalist and a teacher. He had been the chairman of Sudur Paschimanchal Sahitya Samaj, an organization for the promotion of literature and culture in far west region of Nepal. He began his literary career by publishing a Gazal collection titled ''Hatkela ma Aakash'' in 2000 (2057 BS). He received Madan Purskar for his book ''Aina'' (i.e., ''Mirror''), an anthology of short stories in Nepali. He published his second book ''Sakhi'', a novel on 6 October 2018. ''Aina'' () is a collection of short stories by Ramlal Joshi. The book was published in 2016 by Brother books. This is the second book of the author who had previously published a ghazal collection called ''Hatkela ma Aakash''. The book won the 2016 Madan Puraskar. Synopsis The book is a collection of nineteen short stories reflecting the dark realities of poor people of remote district of Far-Western region of Nepal. Madan Puraskar
The Madan Puraskar ( ne, मदन पुरस्कार) is a literary honor in Nepal which Madan Puraskar Guthi confers annually for an outstanding book in the Nepali language published within the calendar year. It is considered the most prestigious literature award in Nepal. It is awarded on the day of Ghatasthapana every year alongside Jagadamba Shree Puraskar. History The award was established by daughter in law of Prime Minister Chandra Shumsher JBR, Queen Jagadamba Kumari Devi, in memory of her husband late General Madan Shumsher JBR, on 26 September 1955. Dhangadhi ( ne, धनगढी ) is a sub-metropolitan city and the district headquarters of Kailali District in Sudurpashchim Province of Nepal.Dhangadhi is also the temporary capital of Sudurpashchim Province.
