Ramesh Parambath
Ramesh Parambath (born 23 May 1961) is an Indian politician and a member of the 15th Puducherry Legislative Assembly. He is a member of the Indian National Congress and represents Mahe constituency. Political career Parambath started his political life as a member of the Kerala Students Union. He was the unit president of the KSU at Mahatma Gandhi Govt Arts College Mahe. He was elected as the Chairman of the College Union of Mahatma Gandhi Govt Arts College Mahe, for two consecutive terms during 1984-85 and 1985-86. He became the President of Mahe Regional Youth Congress Committee during 1989 to 1997. He was also the member of Puducherry DCC. He was elected as the Municipal Chairman of Mahe Municipal Council from 2006 to 2011. Currently he is the President of Block Congress Committee, Mahe region. A Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) is a representative elected by the voters of an electoral district (constituency) to the legislature of State government in the Indian system of government. Puducherry Legislative Assembly
The Puducherry Legislative Assembly is the unicameral legislature of the Indian union territory (UT) of Puducherry, which comprises four districts: Puducherry, Karaikal, Mahé and Yanam. Out of eight union territories of India, only three have legislatures and they are Delhi, Puducherry and Jammu and Kashmir. After delimitation shortly after its formation, the Puducherry legislative assembly has 33 seats, of which 5 are reserved for candidates from scheduled castes and 3 members are nominated by the Government of India. 30 out of 33 Members are elected directly by the people on the basis of universal adult franchise and the remaining three are nominated by the central government. Mahé district ( ml, മയ്യഴി ജില്ല) is one of the four districts of the union territory of Puducherry, India. It consists of the whole of the Mahé region. Mahe is a legislative assembly constituency in the Union territory of Puducherry in India, covering the area of Mahé. Mahe assembly constituency is part of Puducherry (Lok Sabha constituency). From 1964 to 2011, the Mahe region had two Assembly Constituencies- Mahe and Palloor. Mahe Assembly constituency included areas of Mahe, Cherukallayi and Chalakkara. Whereas Palloor constituency comprised Palloor and Pandakkal areas. The Palloor Assembly Constituency was abolished for the 2011 Assembly election. The Kerala Students Union (abbreviated KSU) is a students organization in Kerala, India. It functions as the student wing of the Indian National Congress in the state.
