Rîșcani (, also spelled ''Râșcani'') is a city in Moldova, the capital of the Rîșcani District. It is located along the Copăceanca river, about 22 kilometres from the station in Drochia. Two villages are administered by the city, Bălanul Nou and Rămăzan. History During the interwar period, the city was the seat of Plasa Râșcani, in Bălți County, Romania. A number of Bessarabian Germans lived in the village from its founding in 1865, who called it ''Ryschkanowka''. The German population was forcibly removed in 1940; among the Germans expelled from Rîșcani were the parents of later German president Horst Köhler. Ramazan Kubat (born 4 October 1974), better known as Kubat, is a Turkish folk singer and composer distinguished with his particular style and his applied use of electronic instruments in his songs. Early life Kubat was born in Antwerp in 1974. His father was an Alevi Turk and his mother is a Sunni Turk from Karacalar village in Emirdağ. His uncle is a hafiz from the same village. He is now based in Turkey since over a decade, he was advantaged by the opportunities and outlets his talents found already at a very early age. Ramazan Bashardost ( fa, رمضان بشردوست; born 1961) was former planning minister in Afghanistan and a current member of the National Assembly of Afghanistan. He was an independent candidate in the 2009 Afghan presidential election. Early life and education Ramzan Bashardost was born in Qarabagh District, Ghazni Province of Afghanistan in a family of a respected government employees, he is fluent in Persian and Pashto. He completed his primary and intermediate education in Qarabagh and later in Maimana, capital of Fariyab in northern Afghanistan. Ramazan Yıldırım (born 7 September 1975) is a German-born Turkish former footballer and manager. Career As a player, Yıldırım spent three seasons in the 2.
