Ramanujan (name)
Ramanuja or Ramanujan or Ramanujam is a Tamil and Malayalam name literally meaning 'the younger brother of Rama' mostly referring to Lakshmana. The name is derived from Ramanuja, a Sanskrit compound consisting of the terms ''rāma'' and ''anuja'' (अनुज). The name however is rarely used by Malayalis themselves nowadays and has come to be known as a common name used by the Tamil Iyengar community. The most famous personalities with this name are the 11th century philosopher Ramanuja and the Malayali poet Ramanujan Ezhuthachan. Srinivasa Ramanujan
Srinivasa Ramanujan (; born Srinivasa Ramanujan Aiyangar, ; 22 December 188726 April 1920) was an Indian mathematician. Though he had almost no formal training in pure mathematics, he made substantial contributions to mathematical analysis, number theory, infinite series, and continued fractions, including solutions to mathematical problems then considered unsolvable. Ramanujan initially developed his own mathematical research in isolation: according to Hans Eysenck: "He tried to interest the leading professional mathematicians in his work, but failed for the most part. Ramanujan Srinivasan (1938–1984) was an Indian physicist, known for his research on magnetic resonance phenomena. Using new techniques developed for the purpose, he studied ferroelectricity which established the significance of hydrogen atoms and ammonium ions in the system. Ramanujam Varatharaja Perumal is an aeronautical scientist and an aerospace engineer of India. He was a director at LPSC, a unit of Indian Space Research Organisation(ISRO). Gopala Ramanujam (1915–2001) was an Indian politician and co-founder of the Indian National Trade Union Congress. He was born on 28 May 1915 at Edircottal village, Ramanathapuram District in Tamil Nadu, India. He was a recipient of the third highest Indian civilian award of the Padma Bhushan.
