Rama Aces
The Rama Aces were a junior ice hockey, Junior ice hockey team based in Rama, Ontario, Rama, Ontario, Canada. They played in the GMHL, Greater Metro Junior A Hockey League. History The Aces were announced on February 17, 2012, by the GMHL. On May 7, 2015, after three years in the league, the Aces announced that the league had granted the team a one-year leave of absence. TPA Sports had purchased the team the previous year. Rama is a First Nations in Canada, First Nations community on the Chippewas of Rama First Nation reserve in Ontario, Canada. It is the home of Casino Rama. The community sports complex is called the Mnjikaning Arena Sports Ki, which was the home arena of the Couchiching Terriers ice hockey team, once affiliated with the Barrie Colts. The Rama Kings lacrosse team also plays at the MASK. The Ontario Provincial Police provides dispatching services for the community, but the officers who police the town of Rama are members of the Rama Police Service (formerly the Mnjikaning Police Service). Greater Metro Junior A Hockey League
The Greater Metro Junior A Hockey League (GMHL) is a Canadian developmental junior ice hockey league. The league has primarily had teams in the Greater Toronto Area, Central Ontario, Northeastern Ontario, and Quebec. In 2019, they added three teams from Alberta. As of December 2019, the league's alumni page lists 889 players from 2006 to 2019 who graduated from the GMHL to play for NCAA colleges, various professional leagues, major junior teams, or represented their country in various IIHF World Championships. The GMHL is an independent junior league and is not a member of the Canadian Junior Hockey League or sanctioned by Hockey Canada. Junior hockey leagues in the United States and Canada are considered amateur (with some exceptions) and operate within regions of each country. Parry Sound Islanders
The Parry Sound Islanders were a junior ice hockey, Junior ice hockey team based out of Parry Sound, Ontario, Parry Sound, Ontario, Canada. They played in the Greater Metro Junior A Hockey League. History In 2007, Ville-Marie first attempted to form a team in one of the established Ontario junior hockey leagues, making offers to both the Greater Metro Junior A Hockey League and the Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League. The GMHL turned down the offer due to their acceptance of a Temiscaming franchise that would have been compromised due to proximity. The NOJHL looked like they were going to accept the organization but the deal fell through in late summer. The NOJHL claimed that the Ville-Marie franchise would probably join in 2008. In summer 2008, the NOJHL made no mention of interest in a Ville-Marie franchise but courted the already established Temiscaming Royals of the GMHL. Bracebridge Blues
The Bracebridge Blues were a Canada, Canadian junior ice hockey, Junior ice hockey team based in Bracebridge, Ontario, Bracebridge, Ontario, Canada. They played in the Greater Metro Junior A Hockey League (GMHL). History The Phantoms were announced on April 14, 2012, by the GMHL. In 2014, after a rough season and some ownership woes, the team was supposed to move out of the GMHL and into the rival Canadian International Hockey League. The GMHL ownership stepped in and stopped the move. In April 2014, the ownership of the team was changed by the league and the team became the Bracebridge Blues. After playing five games and forfeiting the sixth game of the 2016–17 season, the Blues were removed from the GMHL schedule. Seguin Huskies
The Seguin Huskies are a Canadian Junior ice hockey team based in Humphrey, Ontario, Canada. They play in the Greater Metro Junior A Hockey League (GMHL). History The Seguin Huskies joined the GMHL in spring 2013. The Huskies are the first junior team in Humphrey since the Seguin Bruins of the Ontario Junior Hockey League folded in 2010. On September 14, 2013, the Huskies played their first game as a franchise, traveling to Bracebridge, Ontario, to play the second year Bracebridge Phantoms. The Wiarton Rock was a Canadian Junior ice hockey team based in Wiarton, Ontario, and a member of the Greater Metro Junior A Hockey League (GMHL). The Rock relocated multiple times, spending time in King City, Nobleton, Lefroy, and Markdale, Ontario.
