Rally Queensland
The International Rally of Queensland, known previously as Rally Queensland, is a rally racing event held in the Gympie Region of Queensland, Australia run by the Brisbane Sporting Car Club. The rally was based for most of its out of the state capital Brisbane but in more recent times has moved north along the coast to various centres in the Sunshine Coast area. The rally begins in Caloundra before moving inland to forest roads in near Imbil and Kandanga. The rally was first held in 1968 as part of the original Australian Rally Championship and has been part of the ARC ever since. With the end of the Rally of Canberra in 2008 and the Western Australian government ceasing its funding of Rally Australia in 2006 both the World and Asia-Pacific Rally Championships were both looking for new venues. 2009 Asia-Pacific Rally Championship Season
The 2009 Asia-Pacific Rally Championship season was an international rally championship sanctioned by the FIA. Australian Subaru driver Cody Crocker won his fourth successive title, the first driver to do so. Crocker's co-driver, Ben Atkinson likewise wrapped up the co-drivers title. Crocker scored 94 out of a possible 96 points to complete dominate the season. The Pacific Cup, decided over the first three rallies in the season was won by New Zealand pairing, Hayden Paddon and John Kennard. Crocker won the Asia Cup, held over the later four rallies of the season. Crocker's team mate, New Zealand driver Emma Gilmour finished second in the championship, moving past former champion Katsuhiko Taguchi at the final round to become the first woman to finish in the series top three positions. Neal Bates
Neal Bates (born 19 March 1965) is an Australian rally and racing car driver. Throughout his career Bates has been associated with Toyota in the Australian Rally Championship and for 19 years his Neal Bates Motorsport outfit ran Toyota's official rally program in Australia. Bates claimed four drivers' titles in this time and helped Toyota win four manufacturers' crowns. Bates' navigator/co-driver since 1993 has been Coral Taylor. Bates long-time partnership with Toyota also brought the first of many circuit racing opportunities, a drive in a star search program in Toyota's Australian Touring Car Championship team. 2008 Australian Rally Championship
The 2008 Australian Rally Championship Season is the 41st Season in the history of the competition. This year once again there will be 6 classes in the competition and over 50 official drivers and 48 teams. The Rallies The 2008 Season has once again featured a total of 6 Rallies across Australia starting at the QUIT Rally until the final event at Coffs Harbour. Teams & Drivers Officially, this season, there will be only one factory-built team competing in the competition. This will be the TTR (Toyota Team Racing) Team. They win the Manufacturer's title for the 3rd consecutive season by default, this is due to the Ford-based Focus RS team of last season pulling out and instead deciding to field a Subaru and changed their Name to PIRTEK LWR Rally Team.
