Rake (singer)
is a Japanese singer-songwriter who debuted under Sony Music Entertainment Japan in 2010. Biography Rake was born in Sendai, Japan. He began an interest in music by playing an antique guitar at his family home, and in high school, was a member of a hard rock band. In university, Rake considered singing for the first time, and began steps to becoming a professional musician. Rake performed as the opening act to Japanese band Kimaguren's 2009 tour ''Kid in the Sky,'' and the following January debuted under Sony Music Japan, with the single " Fly Away." The song was used as the theme song for the Tokyo MX drama ''Taxmen'', and while few copies were sold, the song received such extremely heavy airplay across Japan that it topped ''Billboards Japan Hot 100 chart for two weeks. Rake, after releasing his debut extended play '' All You Need Is'', performed his first solo concert in July, followed by performances at summer festival Summer Sonic in August. RIAJ Digital Track Chart
The was a record chart that ranks the best selling digital singles in Japan, with data provided by the Recording Industry Association of Japan from April 2009. The chart measures cellphone downloads (着うたフル ''Chaku-Uta Full'') (not downloads from PCs, or ringtones (着うた ''Chaku-Uta'')). On July 27, 2012, the service that tracked the charts was shut down. History The RIAJ originally started certifying digital downloads in August 2006. At the same time, they began posting a monthly chart called the (officially the ). This now defunct chart ranked the highest Chaku-uta (ringtone) downloads for the month. The chart was disbanded in March 2009 (the final month's data being February 2009), and was replaced by the identically named weekly Chaku-Uta Full chart. is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Chūya Koyama. It has been serialized in Kodansha's ''seinen'' manga magazine ''Morning'' since December 2007. A 99-episode anime television series adaptation by A-1 Pictures aired from April 2012 to March 2014. The manga was also adapted into a live-action film that premiered in May 2012. The is an industry trade group composed of Japanese corporations involved in the music industry. It was founded in 1942 as the Japan Phonogram Record Cultural Association, and adopted its current name in 1969. The RIAJ's activities include promotion of music sales, enforcement of copyright law, and research related to the Japanese music industry. It publishes the annual ''RIAJ Year Book'', a statistical summary of each year's music sales, as well as distributing a variety of other data. Headquartered in Minato, Tokyo, the RIAJ has twenty member companies and a smaller number of associate and supporting members; some member companies are the Japanese branches of multinational corporations headquartered elsewhere.
