Raju Kaji Shakya
Raju Kaji Shakya ( ne, राजुकाजी शाक्य) is a Nepalese former professional footballer who captained the Nepal national football team, and holds the record for most appearances with 91. Born in July 1960 in Dharan, Nepal, he is currently a football manager, and served as head coach of the national team. Career Shakya started playing Professional football from 1975. His international career involved playing for the Nepal national football team from 1981 to 1997, where he served as captain from 1981–1997. Also, he has played professional football in Bangladesh league. In 1987, Shakya led Nepal in three notable international friendlies, against USSR and East Germany in 1987 and West Germany in 1989. Dharan, Nepal
Dharan ( ne, धरान) a sub-metropolitan city in Sunsari District of Province No. 1, Nepal, which was established as a fourth municipality in the Kingdom in 1958. It is the third most populous city in Eastern Nepal after Biratnagar and Itahari. Dharan is the location of the former Vijayapur, the seat of a historical Limbuwan kingdom, which was later used by the Sen kings of Makwanpur. Tribhuvan Challenge Shield
The Tribhuvan Challenge Shield is Nepal's second oldest association football tournament, founded in 1948 by King Tribhuvan. History In 1947 ( 2004 BS), Tribhuvan Challenge Shield was introduced by late H. M. King Tribhuvan for the development of this football game which was organized at Tudikhel in front of Haribhavan. In that tournament Naresh XI led by Nar Shumsher secured first position and N. R. T. team secured second position. In the same year Shree 3 Padma Shumsher introduced the Ram Janaki cup which was continuously won thrice by Police Force team. The same cup was again introduced but was renamed as Martyr's Memorial league football and hence League matches were introduced in Nepal. The ANFA Cup refers to a series of invitational association football knockout tournaments organised by the All Nepal Football Association. Both National football teams as well as football clubs participated in the past. History Although Nepal had been playing football with the teams of various neighboring countries and friendly countries but the necessity to invite countries for competitive matches in Nepal was realized only in 1979 and hence ANFA cup football match was introduced. 2014–15 Martyr's Memorial A-Division League
The 2015 Nepal National League also known as the RedBull National League for sponsorship reasons is the 2nd edition of Nepal National League. The winners Three Star Club received 1 Crore or 10,000,000 rupees ($149,278 USD). Red Bull energy drink is the main sponsor. San Miguel Beer is also a co-sponsor of the competition. The League featured 9 teams from Kathmandu and the rest of Nepal. The League was heavily affected by the April 2015 Nepal earthquake, with play being suspended from late April and due to resume in September. Teams A total of 9 teams featured in the league.
