Karnala Bird Sanctuary
The Karnala Bird Sanctuary is located in Panvel Taluka of Raigad District, outside Mumbai, India near Matheran and Karjat.It is the first bird sanctuary in Maharashtra. The sanctuary is quite small with an area of 12.11 square kilometres but is, along with the Sanjay Gandhi National Park and Tungareshwar Wildlife Sanctuary, one of the few sanctuaries to be within reach of the city of Mumbai. Location The sanctuary is centered on the historic Karnala Fort and lies just off the Mumbai-Pune national highway to Goa. It is located 12 km from Panvel. The nearest railhead is Panvel. Panvel () is a city and taluka in Raigad district of Maharashtra, India. It is highly populated due to its closeness to Mumbai. Murud-Janjira () is the local name of a famous fort and tourist spot situated on an island just off the coastal town/city of Murud, Raigad, Murud, in the Raigad district of Maharashtra, India. Origins of the name The word Janjira is a corruption of the arabic word "Jazira", which means island in the Arabic language. Gateway Of India
The Gateway of India is an arch-monument built in the early 20th century in the city of Mumbai (Bombay), India. It was erected to commemorate the landing of King-Emperor George V, the first British monarch to visit India, in December 1911 at Strand Road near Wellington Fountain. The foundation stone was laid in March 1913 for a monument built in the Indo-Islamic style, inspiring by elements of 16th-century Gujarati architecture. The final design of the monument by architect George Wittet was sanctioned only in 1914, and construction was completed in 1924. The structure is a memorial arch made of basalt, which is high, with an architectural resemblance to a triumphial arch as well as Gujarati architecture of the time. Rewas (Rewas-Bodani or Revas) is one of 48 “minor” ports of Maharashtra located at Rewas Creek, near Karanja creek at mouth of the Patalganga River about southward of Jawaharlal Nehru Port (JNPT) and south-east of Mumbai Port. It is controlled by the state government through an agency known as the “Maharashtra Maritime Board”. Roha
Roha () is a town and taluka in the Raigad district of the Maharashtra state of India. It is located 120 km southeast of Mumbai. It is the starting point of Konkan railways and end point of central railways (Mumbai). Many chemical industries have opened up their manufacturing bases in Roha.
