Rajesh Gopie
Rajesh Gopie, is a South African actor of Indian descent. He is best known for the roles in the television serials ''Stellenbosch'', ''Professionals'' and ''The World Unseen''. Personal life He was born in Durban, South Africa to an Indian family. He obtained his B.A. degree in English, Drama and History at the University of Natal. In July 2020, his aunt Dolly Singh died at the age of 76 by COVID-19 complications. Career After his graduation, he moved to England for a year and studied drama further. After his return to South Africa, he made the stage play ''Out of Bounds'' which deals with life and times of South African Indian families. ''Mayfair'' is a 2018 South African Indian action crime drama film written by Neil McCarthy and directed by Sara Blecher. The film marks the fourth directorial venture for Sara Blecher and the film was set in the suburb of Johannesburg. The film stars Rajesh Gopie and Ronak Patani in the male lead roles. The film had its theatrical release on 2 November 2018 and received positive reviews. The film was also screened at the 62nd BFI London Film Festival and Africa in Motion Film Festival in October 2018. The World Unseen
''The World Unseen'' is a 2007 historical drama film, written and directed by Shamim Sarif, adapted from her own novel. The film is set in 1950s Cape Town, South Africa during the beginning of apartheid. The film stars Lisa Ray and Sheetal Sheth as two Indian South African women who fall in love in a racist, sexist, and homophobic society. Africa In Motion Film Festival
Africa in Motion (AiM) is an annual African film festival which takes place in Edinburgh, Scotland, in late October/early November. The primary aim of the festival is to offer audiences in Scotland the opportunity to view the best of African cinema from across the continent. AiM 2021 will be the 16th edition showcasing African cinema, the main hosting venue being Edinburgh's Filmhouse Cinema.
