Raja Wanasundera
Raja Sirimevan Wanasundera PC (11 February 1924 - 31 October 2012) was a Sri Lankan judge who served as a Puisne Justice of the Supreme Court of Sri Lanka and the 27th Solicitor General of Sri Lanka. Early life, education and family Raja Wanasundera was born in Ratnapura on 11 February 1924 to a Kandyan family. He is a descendant of Ehelepola Nilame. Wanasundera attended Royal College, Colombo. He obtained a Bachelor of Arts from the University College Colombo and pursued legal studies upon entering the Law College. He is also a graduate of the University of London and has completed postgraduate courses in International Law and Constitutional Law at Stanford University. Former Justice S. R. Wijayatilake was Wanasundera's brother in law, and uncle to his son former Attorney General Yuwanjana Wijayatilake. Raja Wanasundera died in the early hours of 31 October 2012. President's Counsel
President's Counsel (postnominal PC) is an eminent lawyer who is appointed by the President of Sri Lanka to be one of the "President's Counsel learned in the law". The term is also recognized as an honorific which replaced the practice of appointment of Queen's Counsel (QC) which ceased when Sri Lanka became a republic in 1972. It is equivalent to the appointment of King's Counsel in the United Kingdom and other Commonwealth realms, such as New Zealand, and the equivalent of Senior Counsel in Commonwealth republics, such as South Africa, and derives the same privileges such as the privilege of sitting within the Bar of court. President's Counsel is a professional rank and status, conferred by the President under the Article 33 of the Constitution of Sri Lanka which is recognised by courts. K. A. Parinda Ranasinghe was a Sri Lankan, judge, who was the 38th Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Ceylon. He is also the President of the Asia Crime Prevention Foundation. Deshamanya Suppiah Sharvananda (also spelt Suppiah Sarvananda) was the 37th Chief Justice of Sri Lanka and the first Governor of the Western Province. Early life Sharvanda was born on 22 February 1923 in Kayts, Jaffna District. He attended St. Anthony's English School in Kayts before transferring to Jaffna Hindu College at Grade 6. After completing his secondary education he studied at Colombo Law College, qualifying as a lawyer in 1946. The Attorney General of Sri Lanka is the Sri Lankan government's chief legal adviser, and its primary lawyer in the Supreme Court of Sri Lanka. Ceylon University College was a public university college in Ceylon. Established in 1921, it was Ceylon's first attempt at university education. Royal College, Colombo is a selective entry boys' school located in Cinnamon Gardens, Colombo, Sri Lanka. Started as a private school by Rev Joseph Marsh in 1835, it was established as the Colombo Academy by Sir Robert Wilmot-Horton in January 1836, as part of the implementation of the recommendations of the Colebrooke Cameron Commission (1833), and was the first government-run secondary school for boys in the island. Ehelapola Senevirathne Senanayake Chandrathilake Wijesundara Dissanayake Amarakoon Wasala Panditha Mudiyanse ( si, ඇහැලේපොල සෙනෙවිරත්න සේනානායක චන්ද්රතිලක විඡේසුන්දර දිසානායක අමරකෝන් වාහල පණ්ඩිත මුදියන්සේ; 1773–1829), commonly known as Ehelapola Nilame ( si, ඇහැලේපොළ නිලමේ), was a courtier of the Kingdom of Kandy. He was the Pallegampahe Adigar, and held the honorary title of Maha Nilame from 1811 to 1814 under the reign of Sri Vikrama Rajasinha of Kandy.
