Rainy Milo
Rainy Milo is a British recording artist, born in south-east London; she began her career singing with local musicians and arts collectives when she was 14. In 2012 Milo released her debut mixtape "Limey" which contained "jazz-inspired hip-hop" production, this was followed by Milo's debut EP entitled "Black & Blonde" which was released in April 2013. Most recently, Milo released her debut album "This Thing Of Ours" in April 2015 in the US via Limey/Big Picnic Records. "Bankrobber" is a song by English punk rock band The Clash. The song was not released on any of their studio albums, instead appearing on their compilation ''Black Market Clash''. Upon its 1980 release as a single (initially available in the UK on import only) it peaked at number 12 on the UK Singles Chart, and at number 14 on both the Irish Singles Chart and the New Zealand Singles Chart. Young Ian Brown and Pete Garner, later of The Stone Roses, were in attendance at the studio recording session of this single. According to Brown, having heard a rumour that the Clash were recording in Manchester, he and Garner were walking through the city centre when they overheard Topper Headon playing the drums at the city's Pluto Studios: Headon subsequently emerged from the studio and invited the pair in. The Clash were an English rock band formed in London in 1976 who were key players in the original wave of British punk rock. Billed as "The Only Band That Matters", they also contributed to the and new wave movements that emerged in the wake of punk and employed elements of a variety of genres including reggae, dub, funk, ska, and rockabilly. For most of their recording career, the Clash consisted of lead vocalist and rhythm guitarist Joe Strummer, lead guitarist and vocalist Mick Jones (The Clash guitarist), Mick Jones, bassist Paul Simonon, and drummer Topper Headon, Nicky "Topper" Headon. ''Black and Blonde'' stylized as ''Black & Blonde'' is the debut extended play by British recording artist Rainy Milo, released on 22 April 2013. It was her first work released under her contract with Universal Music, and followed her acclaimed mixtape ''Limey'' (2012). Sonically the EP features hip hop, alternative and jazz genres. All the songs were written by Milo except "Bankrobber", which is a rendition of the 1980 song of the same name by English punk rock band The Clash. The EP also includes "Don't Regret Me" from her previous mixtape. The promotional video for "Bankrobber" includes scenes of Milo robbing a bank and a mug shot. MOBO Awards
The MOBO Awards (Music of Black Origin, also known as the MOBOs) are an annual British music award presentation honouring achievements in " music of black origin", including hip hop, grime, UK Drill, R&B, soul, reggae, jazz, gospel, and African music. The MOBO Organisation was founded by Kanya King, and the first MOBO award was presented to Baby D, in the Best Dance Act category. The inaugural awards were broadcast by Carlton Television from London's Connaught Rooms.
