ASOS Rainbow Athletic Club (commonly known as ASOS Rainbow AC or Rainbow, formerly NBP Rainbow) is an Indian professional football club based in Kolkata, West Bengal, that competes in the Calcutta Premier Division A. In 2018, they competed in the I-League 2nd Division, the second tier of Indian football league system. History The team was founded in 1956 as Baranagore Rainbow Club, then later renamed as NBP Rainbow AC. The team has not been as successful as their city rivals, East Bengal Club, Mohun Bagan, Mohammedan Sporting and Peerless SC. Rainbow participates in the Calcutta Football League premier divisions. In 2020, Rainbow entered into a partnership with Indian conglomerate Aditya Group. It was announced that the new combination will have former India international Debjit Ghosh as their technical director. The Barasat District Sports Stadium, also known as Vidyasagar Krirangan, is an association football stadium located in Barasat, North 24 Parganas, West Bengal. It is used mostly for Calcutta Football League matches. It is also used for several district-level, state-level and sometimes national level tournaments. The stadium currently holds around 15,000 spectators, has four floodlight towers, air conditioned function and changing rooms. Debjit Ghosh (born 23 February 1974) is a former Indian football player. During his playing days, Ghosh played for Mohun Bagan, Mahindra United, East Bengal, and Mohammedan in the National Football League from 1996 to 2007. He also represented India between 1997 and 2006. Club career Born in Kolkata, West Bengal, Ghosh started his playing career with Kolkata football giants East Bengal in 1996. The 2022 Calcutta Football League Premier Division was the 124th overall season of the two highest state-level football divisions of West Bengal. The division consists of two tiers within it: Premier Division A and Premier Division B. 2016 Calcutta Premier Division
The 2016 Calcutta Football League Premier Division was the 118th season of the Calcutta Premier Division, a state league within the Indian state of West Bengal. The league is divided into two groups – Group A and Group B. The Championship title is awarded only to the Group A winner, while four teams from Group A are relegated to Group B at the end of the season and 4 teams from Group B are simultaneously promoted to Group A for the next season. The fixtures of Group A kicked off on 27 July 2016, while the fixtures for Group B had kicked off on 16 July 2016. The Federation Cup (also known as Hero Federation Cup for sponsorship reasons) was an annual knockout football competition in Indian football which started in 1977. From its inception, until I-League was started in 1997 (then called NFL), it was the most prestigious national level club football tournament in India.
