Raif Badawi
Raif bin Muhammad Badawi ( ar, رائف بن محمد بدوي, also transcribed Raef bin Mohammed Badawi; born 13 January 1984) is a Saudi writer, dissident and activist, as well as the creator of the website ''Free Saudi Liberals''. Badawi was arrested in 2012 on a charge of "insulting Islam through electronic channels" and brought to court on several charges, including apostasy. In 2013, he was convicted on several charges and sentenced to seven years in prison, torture and 600 lashes. In 2014 his sentence was increased to 10 years in prison, 1,000 lashes, and a fine. The flogging was to be carried out over 20 weeks. The first 50 lashes were administered on 9 January 2015. The second flogging was postponed more than twelve times. The reason for the most recent postponement is unknown, but the previous scheduled floggings were delayed due to Badawi's poor health. Raif Denktaş (also known as Raif Rauf Denktaş) (January 26, 1951 – December 26, 1985) was a Turkish Cypriot composer, politician, academic, journalist and writer. He died after a controversial car accident where his car collided with a military vehicle. Early life Raif Denktaş was born on January 26, 1951, in Nicosia to Aydın and Rauf Denktaş, the founder and the former President of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus. He attended to the Köşklüçiftlik Primary School which was later renamed as Şehit Tuncer Primary School following the death of his primary school teacher during the 1963 intercommunal violence between Turkish and Greek Cypriots. Raif Dizdarević
Raif Dizdarević (born 9 December 1926) is a Bosnian politician who served as Yugoslavia's first Bosniak president of the Presidency from 1988 until 1989. He participated in the armed resistance as a Yugoslav Partisan during World War II. Didzarević also served as President of the Presidency of SR Bosnia and Herzegovina and as Minister of Foreign Affairs. Raif Khoury
Raif Khoury (c. 1913–1967) was a Lebanese writer, poet, essayist, novelist and playwright who was born in Nabay, Lebanon, then part of the Ottoman Empire towards the beginning of the twentieth century. He went to school in the neighboring town of Brummana to Broummana High School, where he started writing poetry at a very early age. He joined the American University of Beirut as an Arabic literature and history major and graduated with a BA in 1932. Raif Muradov ( bg, Раиф Мурадов; born 10 December 1993) is a Bulgarian footballer who plays as a defender for Levski Lom. Career Muradov began his professional career at Chavdar Etropole.
