Ragnar Pedersen (ethnologist)
Ragnar Pedersen (25 September 1942 – 16 October 2007) was a Norwegian illustrator, known by his pen name "Joker", text writer, magazine editor and revue writer. He was from Oslo, and settled in Fredrikstad from 1972. He was a cartoonist for the newspaper '' Dagbladet'' for many years, in the column "Uka som gikk". He wrote and illustrated the comics strip ''Amøbene'' for the weekly magazine '' Alle Menn'' from 1966 onwards. He edited the humour magazine '' KOnK'' from 1966 to 1976. A posthumous exhibition of his works was held in Oslo at Deichmanske bibliotek, Grünerløkka, in 2014. Oslo
Oslo ( , , or ; sma, Oslove) is the capital and most populous city of Norway. It constitutes both a county and a municipality. The municipality of Oslo had a population of in 2022, while the city's greater urban area had a population of in 2019, and the metropolitan area had an estimated population of in 2021. During the Viking Age the area was part of Viken. Oslo was founded as a city at the end of the Viking Age in 1040 under the name Ánslo, and established as a ''kaupstad'' or trading place in 1048 by Harald Hardrada. The city was elevated to a bishopric in 1070 and a capital under Haakon V of Norway around 1300. Personal unions with Denmark from 1397 to 1523 and again from 1536 to 1814 reduced its influence. Fredrikstad
Fredrikstad (; previously ''Frederiksstad''; literally "Fredrik's Town") is a city and municipality in Viken county, Norway. The administrative centre of the municipality is the city of Fredrikstad. The city of Fredrikstad was founded in 1567 by King Frederick II, and established as a municipality on 1 January 1838 (see '' formannskapsdistrikt''). The rural municipality of Glemmen was merged with Fredrikstad on 1 January 1964. The rural municipalities of Borge, Onsøy, Kråkerøy, and Rolvsøy were merged with Fredrikstad on 1 January 1994. The city straddles the river Glomma where it meets the Skagerrak, about from the Sweden border. Along with neighboring Sarpsborg, Fredrikstad forms the fifth largest city in Norway: Fredrikstad/Sarpsborg. ''Dagbladet'' (lit.: ''The Daily Magazine'') is one of Norway's largest newspapers and is published in the tabloid format. It has 1,400,000 daily readers on mobile, web and paper. Traditionally ''Dagbladet'' is considered the main liberal newspaper of Norway, with a generally liberal progressive editorial outlook, to some extent associated with the movement of cultural radicalism in Scandinavian history. The paper edition had a circulation of 46,250 copies in 2016, down from a peak of 228,834 in 1994. ''Alle Menn'' (meaning ''Every Man'' in English) was a Norwegian weekly magazine that was first published in 1929 by the company Forlagshuset as the crime-story magazine ''Mystikk''. In 1945 the name of the publication was changed to the more attractive title ''Alle Menns Blad'' (Every Man's Magazine) and it was published on a monthly basis.B kken Willy. 1996. Oslo Public Library
Oslo Public Library (officially called in Norwegian ''Deichman bibliotek'', Deichman Library) is the municipal public library serving Oslo, Norway and is the country's first and largest library. It employs over 300 people and has over 20 branches throughout the city. Registered users may use the library every day, even when it is not staffed, from 7am to 11pm. It is also possible to borrow and return books when the library is not staffed. One of the most prized books in the library's collection is the Vulgate bible of Aslak Bolt (1430–1450), Norway's only preserved liturgical handwritten manuscript from medieval times. The book itself is estimated to have been written around 1250. The head of the library from 2014 to 2016 was Kristin Danielsen. Grünerløkka is a borough of the city of Oslo, Norway. Grünerløkka became part of the city of Oslo (then Christiania) in 1858. Grünerløkka was traditionally a working class district; however, since the late 20th century the area has increasingly undergone gentrification. Although it is located in the East End, it is more expensive than other parts of the East End. Etymology The first element was derived from the surname ''Grüner''. The last element is the definite form of ''løkke'', meaning "paddock". Grünerløkka was named after Friedrich Grüner (1628-1674) who served as chief administrator (''Oberhauptmann'') and the master of the mint (''myntmester'') at Christiania from 1651 until his death in 1674.
