Princely State
A princely state (also called native state or Indian state) was a nominally sovereign entity of the British Raj, British Indian Empire that was not directly governed by the British, but rather by an Indian ruler under a form of indirect rule, subject to a subsidiary alliance and the suzerainty or paramountcy of the the Crown, British crown. There were officially 565 princely states when India and Pakistan became independent in 1947, but the great majority had contracted with the viceroy to provide public services and tax collection. Only 21 had actual state governments, and only four were large (Hyderabad State, Mysore State, Kashmir and Jammu (princely state), Jammu and Kashmir State, and Baroda State). Bundi State was an India princely state, located in modern-day Rajasthan. It was ruled by Hada Chauhans. It was a princely state in the era of British India. The last ruler of Bundi State signed the accession to join the Dominion of India, Indian Union in 1949. Hada are a branch of the Chauhan Rajput community. They live in Hadoti and once ruled the states of Bundi, Jhalawar and Kota. History They belong to Agnikul. The Most Exalted Order of the Star of India is an order of chivalry founded by Queen Victoria in 1861. Mahārāja (; also spelled Maharajah, Maharaj) is a Sanskrit title for a "great ruler", "great king" or " high king". A few ruled states informally called empires, including ruler raja Sri Gupta, founder of the ancient Indian Gupta Empire, and Chandragupta Maurya. 'Title inflation' soon led to most being rather mediocre or even petty in real power, which led to compound titles (among other efforts) being used in an attempt to distinguish some among their ranks.
