Rafe Mair
Kenneth Rafe Mair (31 December 1931 – 9 October 2017) was a Canadian lawyer, political commentator, radio personality and politician in British Columbia, Canada. He served in the British Columbia Legislative Assembly as the member for Kamloops from 1975 to 1981 in the caucus of the Social Credit Party. In his post-political career, Mair became a radio personality and political commentator, raising controversy for his views on both the Meech Lake and Charlottetown constitutional accords. He served as the plaintiff of the historic Supreme Court of Canada decision ''Rafe Mair v. Kari Simpson''. Early life Mair was born in Vancouver and grew up in the neighbourhood of Kerrisdale. CKBD-FM (98.1 FM, "98.1 2day FM") is a radio station in Lethbridge, Alberta. Owned by Vista Radio, it broadcasts a modern adult contemporary format. History The station signed on in December 2000 as CJTS-FM, a Christian radio station broadcasting at 97.1 FM, initially owned by Spirit Broadcasting. In 2006, the station was sold to Golden West Broadcasting. In addition, the CRTC approved a re-location to 98.1 FM, and an increase in power to 20,000 watts. Golden West stated that the owner's health, as well as the station's financial performance, were factors in the decision to sell. CKNW
CKNW is a news/talk formatted radio station in Vancouver, British Columbia, owned by Corus Entertainment. It broadcasts on an assigned frequency of AM 980 kHz, and is unusual in that it is a 50,000-watt, Class A station broadcasting on a regional (not clear-channel) frequency. CKNW uses a four-tower directional antenna from a site near Surrey, while its studios are located at TD Tower in Downtown Vancouver. CKPK-FM (102.7 FM, ''102.7 Now! Radio'') is a radio station in Vancouver, British Columbia. Owned by Pattison Media, it broadcasts an adult contemporary format. Its studios are located on West 8th Avenue in the Fairview neighbourhood of Vancouver, while its transmitter is located atop Mount Seymour. The station first signed on with an experimental license in 1923 as CFXC, and was renamed CJOR in 1926. It moved to its long-time home of 600 AM in 1930. CJOR operated as the Vancouver affiliate of the CBC's Dominion Network from 1944 through the network's closure in 1962. Patriation is the political process that led to full Canadian sovereignty, culminating with the Constitution Act, 1982. The process was necessary because under the Statute of Westminster 1931, with Canada's agreement at the time, the Parliament of the United Kingdom, British parliament had retained the power to amend Canada's British North America Acts, Constitution Acts (Statute of Westminster sec. 7(1)), and to enact more generally for Canada at the request and with the consent of the Dominion (sec. 4). William Richards Bennett, (April 14, 1932 – December 3, 2015) was the 27th premier of British Columbia from 1975 to 1986. He was a son of Annie Elizabeth May (Richards) and former Premier, W. A. C.
