Radlice (Prague)
Radlice (, german: Radlitz) is a district and cadastral area in the west of Prague, Czech Republic located in Prague 5, with a population of 1,952 (2021). It is bordered by Smíchov to the east and north-east, Košíře to the north-west, Jinonice to the west and Hlubočepy to the south. It became part of Prague in 1922. The area is served by Radlická station on the Prague Metro line B. The metro station along with its adjacent bus terminal was constructed in the 1980s, and markedly changed the character of the neighbourhood, with many old houses from Radlice's time as a village demolished to make way for the new infrastructure. The Czech Republic, or simply Czechia, is a landlocked country in Central Europe. Prague 5
Prague 5, formally the Prague Municipal District (''Městská čast Praha 5''), is a second-tier municipality in Prague. The administrative district (''správní obvod'') of the same name consists of municipal districts Prague 5 and Slivenec. Prague 5 is one of the largest districts of Prague located at the west side of the Vltava river. It comprises Smíchov, Radlice, Košíře, Barrandov, Zlíchov, Zličín, Jinonice, Hlubočepy, Motol, Slivenec, Butovice, Chuchle, and Klukovice, as well as a very small part of Malá Strana. The district was the first one in Prague that offered free wireless internet connection to its citizens. Prague 5 is growing more important since the reconstruction of Anděl on Smíchov. Smíchov
Smíchov () is (since 1909) a district of Prague, the capital of the Czech Republic, and is part of Prague 5. It is on the west bank of the Vltava river. History Between 1945 and 1989, the district contained a monument dedicated to Soviet tanks in World War II, which was located in Štefánik square. The monument was removed shortly after the Velvet Revolution and a new glass-and-steel building designed by French architect Jean Nouvel became a symbol of the district. An angel (''anděl'' in Czech) from Wim Wenders' movie ''Wings of Desire'' is etched into the glass on the façade. The local traffic hub was renamed to Anděl from Moskevská (after Moscow). The Staropramen brewery is located in Smíchov. Košíře
Košíře is a district of Prague, part of the municipal area Prague 5. It is situated in the valley of the Motol brook between the districts Smíchov and Motol. Košíře became a town in 1896 and was joined onto Prague in 1921. History Košíře was a village until the second half of the 19th century. Thanks to the development of industry it was necessary to build accommodation there, because workers were moving there. The first electric tram in Prague was also tested there on the tram line from Anděl to Košíře (today Kavalírka). Characteristics Košíře is a mostly residential district. Jinonice
Jinonice is a district of Prague, mostly part of Prague 5, but a small area is part of Prague 13. It is located on the north edge of Prokopské údolí national park. Jinonice has been a part of Prague city since 1922. Part of Jinonice is also the historical Slavic settlement ''Hradiště Butovice'' from the 9th century. The most important local historical monument is the Church of St. Lawrence (Kostel svatého Vavřince), which was built in Romanesque style at the end of the 11th century. In 1872 the Smíchov – Hostivice railway line was built. Hlubočepy
Hlubočepy is a cadastral district of Prague, Czech Republic. In 2015 it had 22,466 inhabitants. In this cadastral district lies a neighbourhood called '' Barrandov'' which is famous for its film studios ( Barrandov Studios). The studios are now often called the "European Hollywood" or "Hollywood of the East" because of the increasing interest of western productions (such as the movies '' Mission Impossible'', '' The Bourne Identity'', '' Casino Royale'', '' Prince Caspian'', and many others). The name Barrandov is derived from the fossil-rich rocks which were studied by the French geologist Joachim Barrande. The German name of Hlubočepy is ''Kohlfelden''.
